Description of the walk

Leave one car at the Goules car park. Then go to the Col de Ceyssat car park.

(S) Col de Ceyssat. The Chemin des Muletiers trail starts above the car park. After a few hundred metres, you will quickly reach the road and the panoramic train tracks.

(1) The path continues opposite. The gravel and rocky path is wide and sheltered by vegetation. Steep slope. Little by little, the hairpin bends become tighter and tighter. Arrive at the station.

(2) Walk around the Puy de Dôme. Views of the various Puys and the city of Clermont-Ferrand.

(3) Go down the road along the railway tracks. Take the goat path on the right, heading north, which has wooden steps. At the bottom, continue straight ahead with the Puy Pariou in sight. Arrive at Traversin (water point).

(4) Continue straight ahead. Leave theGR®®441.

(5) Take the small path on the left at the fork.

(6) Turn left at the intersection, then right towards the two caves of Petit Knoll. Go around the latter.

(7) Take the path opposite towards the Cliersou caves. Sandy path with a steep descent. At the next junction, continue straight ahead to reach the caves.

(8) Take the path back to the previous junction and turn left. At the next fork, turn right to reach the footbridge.
(9) Take theGR®®441again. Climb the wooden steps towards Puy Pariou. At the top, walk around the crater in an anti-clockwise direction, then turn left to descend.

(10) Turn back. Turn right onto the path you came up and, 50 metres further on, leave it to follow a path on the left that heads east through the woods. This path then curves to the left and heads north.

(11) At the crossroads, turn right until you reach the D941. Turn right and follow the road to the car park, near the Fontaine du Berger (E).
