Access From Clermont-Ferrand, take the D941 towards Orcines, then the D942 towards Puy de Dôme, then Col de Ceyssat. Car park in front of the two restaurants.
Markings: Yellow: Puy de Dôme (via the Chemin des Chèvres).
(S/E) From the car park, take the path that climbs above the two restaurants, leave the Chemin des Muletiers on your right and climb the stone and then dirt path that winds through a forest of beech trees. Continue along the natural path until you reach a clearing.
(1) At the clearing, continue straight ahead on the natural path. At the junction with theGR®®4, continue straight ahead.
(2) At the junction with theGR®® 441 (4 paths), turn right and continue on the Plateau du Traversin until you reach the stone fountain.
(3) At the fountain, turn right onto Chemin des Chèvres, climb this steep path, ignore the path on the left and continue to the stairs.
(4) Climb the stairs to the road and the Panoramique des Dômes rack railway.
(5) At the road, turn left just before the station, cross the railway line (watch out for trains), and climb up to the platform above the station.
(6) Continue and turn right towards the Temple of Mercury, walking around the site.
(7) Return to the station, turn right and descend Chemin des Muletiers to the road/train track.
(8) At the road, cross the road and railway line ( watch out for trains), take the path opposite which descends to the restaurants and car park (S/E).
