Park in the small car park along the D942. To find it (about 1 km before the Col de la Moreno), slow down after the slight downhill slope (when coming from Clermont), where the road begins to climb, curving to the left. It is on the right about 200 m after this curve.

(S/E) Take the path that climbs towards the forest. After about 200 m, you will come to a forest track. Turn right and follow this track for a gentle climb to a clearing.
(1) Follow the fairly visible path that climbs to the left, continuing on from the forest track. Continue along this path/trail, which goes around Puy de Salomon, and the first climb is over.
(2) Gradually switch to the southern slope where you will find a wide track and continue south.
(3) Just before reaching the road, take a sharp right turn onto a pretty path that heads north to a fork.
(4) Keep left on a fairly steep slope, but don't worry, after 250 m, at the end of the descent, you will arrive at a clearing.
(5) Turn right onto a beautiful path under the deciduous trees and climb gently between Puy des Grosmanaux and Puy Besace.
(6) After about 1 km, you will arrive at the D62, which you should take to the right. Climb up to the Col de Ceyssat, the starting point for the ascent of the Puy de Dôme via the "des Muletiers" trail. This section can be quite congested in summer, with cars parked haphazardly on both sides of the road.
(7) Just after the pass, turn right onto the path that leads into the forest (signposted "Lachamps 3 km", this is also the GTMC route for mountain bikers). Follow these signs or those for the "Boucle des Dômes".
(8) At the first fork, there is a steep climb to the right and a steep descent to the left: take the descent! Continue south, then turn east.
(9) At the new fork after the steepest part, turn right, leaving the "Boucle des Dômes" signs behind to finish going around Puy des Grosmanaux.
At the end of a descent lined with gorse, the path seems to veer to the left, but continue straight ahead for about 30 metres (it climbs slightly).
(10) Take a path on the left along the hillside and follow it until you return to the starting point (S/E).
