Pontoise walks

This route is rich in history and allows you to discover the heritage of Pontoise and its little-known paths.

A walk from station to station, following the river. After skirting the Oise to Port Cergy, the route joins the Île de Loisirs de Cergy, then takes the Axe Majeur to reach the old Pontoise–Poissy railway line. After the confluence, it follows the Seine along the quays of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, following part of the discovery trail, before reaching the station.

The hike begins in front of Osny Town Hall in the beautiful setting of Château Grouchy and its park bordered by a pond. The walk heads north-west to the town of Boissy-l'Aillerie, returning south and then east to the starting point via Grouchy Park. Much of the route is away from roads with motor traffic.

The Cergy-Neuville Leisure Centre is located in a loop of the Oise River. The hike crosses the centre, giving you an idea of the variety of activities on offer there. It continues along the slopes of the right bank of the river, offering beautiful views of the entire meander. The passage through Port-Cergy, as well as several heritage sites (churches, wash houses, covered walkways, etc.), adds to the interest of the walk.

A walk starting from the new town of Cergy will take you past the circular bends of the Oise, the Cergy leisure centre and its ponds, and the old villages of Vauréal, Jouy-le-Moutier and Neuville-sur-Oise in the Val d'Oise. You will arrive in the Yvelines at Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, the capital of inland waterway transport at the confluence of the Seine and the Oise.

This walk takes you past numerous wash houses fed by springs located on the circular Oise in the municipalities of Jouy-le-Moutier, Vauréal and Cergy. Along the way, you will discover the Jouy-le-Moutier municipal park known as "Parc Raclet", the Rue des Blanchards and its curiosities, the old railway line that linked Pontoise to Poissy, the Axe Majeur, Gérard Philippe's house and the Cergy ponds leisure centre.

This circular walk takes you on a journey of discovery through the four vineyards of Jouy-le-Moutier. You will learn about the past activities of this hillside with its old limestone quarries, the former CGB railway line that linked Pontoise to Poissy, the Jouy-le-Moutier menhir and two wash houses.

A short walk, where heritage sites (churches, wash houses, covered walkway) alternate with a path along the Oise river.

The route follows the Avenue Verte (Paris-London cycle route) from Jouy-le-Moutier to Vauréal. After crossing the Oise at the major axis, it returns via the Cergy ponds and the towpath to the Pont de Neuville bridge.

A pleasant walk starting from Boissy-l'Aillerie station, through the wooded and grain-growing areas of the Vexin plateau.

Between town and countryside, this walk is mainly marked by yellow PR® markers.

A hike on the slopes of both banks of the Viosne, alternating between cultivated fields, woodland and charming villages. For about 3 kilometres, the route follows the course of an ancient Roman road, the Chaussée Jules César. There is a rich heritage to discover along the way: mills, a castle, churches, crosses, wash houses and beautiful houses.

A hike from station to station with the Oise as the guiding thread. You will cross several wooded parks and follow the river for a long time, mostly on a right of way. At the end of the route, the passage through Auvers-sur-Oise is an opportunity to evoke the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.

A circular starting from Auvers-sur-Oise that follows the ravine through the valleys, then climbs up to Hérouville and passes through the Palous and Chaponval fields before returning to Auvers.

A walk that allows you to discover the banks of the Seine at the pace of the barges, first along the water's edge, then from a higher vantage point. You can also discover a rich heritage, such as the royal quarries, the Moorish house of painter and photographer Victor Madeleine (1855-1931) and the River Transport Museum.

A lovely, flat route to enjoy at a leisurely pace along the banks of the Oise, with a section high up behind the Pays de Maurecourt offering magnificent views of the Oise. This region is even more beautiful when viewed from the footpaths.

A pleasant walk starting from the top of Andrésy towards Maurecourt and Jouy-le-Moutier along country lanes.

This route to the north of the Forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and near Conflans-Sainte-Honorine takes you to the Étang du Corra, a pond with rich biodiversity that is a popular spot for birdwatching. The Pavillon de la Muette is a neoclassical hunting lodge built at the request of Louis XV.

A route suitable for everyone, young and old, which will take you from the Fin-d’Oise district, the historic heart of the river trade, to the Denouval district, passing by the main monuments in the city centre.

The Oise region was a favourite haunt of the Impressionist painters. You’ll quickly see why as this route winds its way through fields of grass and the green Sausseron valley. The outward leg is entirely in the open until you reach Labbeville. The return journey will be in the shade as you pass through Nesles-la-Vallée and Valmondois. History buffs will be in their element with the presence of castles, mills, churches and, of course, the old railway line between Labbeville and Valmondois

A lovely walk through three different types of landscape: the Sausseron valley, cultivated plateaus (with beautiful unobstructed views over the rolling hills of the Vexin), and varied woodlands, mainly comprising chestnut, beech and birch groves, with a few oaks, and, in the valley, poplar groves. Two exceptional points of interest: Saint-Symphorien Church and the Tour du Lay stone polishing site. Not to mention the many old mills on the Sausseron, beautiful country houses, and interesting stone crosses along the paths. As for famous figures, the village honours (with a villa and bust) Honoré Daumier, the great caricaturist who died in Valmondois in 1879. Another, more contemporary artist has donated a series of sculptures on permanent display in Michel Charpentier’s Sculpture Garden.

A walk starting from Valmondois towards Ogivaux Castle and Moulin le Roy, then heading towards L’Isle-Adam through the woods. A stroll along the left bank towards the new port of L’Isle-Adam, then a walk around the lake, and continuing along the banks of the Oise via the GR®1 greenway.

Half of the route takes you through the Forest of L'Isle-Adam. This hike from station to station offers other points of interest, including two covered walkways dating from the Neolithic period.

A station-to-station walk, which can also be done as a slightly shorter loop. The route is mainly woodland, using both signposted paths and little-travelled paths in the undergrowth. The Étang du Corra, a protected site, offers an interlude with beautiful views and the chance to spot many birds.

A route through the Vexin region starting from the charming Saint-Martin Church in Vallangoujard. The first half is shaded, beginning alongside streams and ponds. The second half is in open countryside, amongst the fields.

A circular route through five villages in the Vexin Regional Park, partly following the old Valmondois Marines railway line, a secondary line that closed in the 1950s but whose old stations are still visible.

During this walk, the route gradually enters wooded areas after passing the English Cemetery, where nature offers a little respite from the built-up areas. The Seine, the Buttes du Parisis National Forest, Cormeilles Fort.

A beautiful walk in the French Vexin Regional Nature Park and the Sausseron Valley

The circuit starts by taking you along the Sausseron valley, then climbs up the hillside and continues through fields. You return to Nesles via paths through the woods. The circuit also allows you to discover a unique site called the Trou à Morts.

A former royal hunting ground, the Forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye has wide, long avenues. There are also paths winding through the undergrowth, which this hike invites you to discover. The route is mainly through the forest, with a variety of tree species and a short stretch along the edge of a pond.

A trail very well maintained by the ONF for discovering different tree species! A short, easy route with excellent signposting and numerous information boards. Ideal for children (and grown-ups) keen to learn more about life in our forests.

A hike from station to station that crosses the entire western part of the Saint-Germain-en-Laye National Forest. A few ancient crosses mark this forest trail. The route ends in Poissy, where you can admire the Notre-Dame Collegiate Church.

A hike from station to station that crosses the entire eastern part of the Saint-Germain-en-Laye National Forest. A few crosses and oratories mark this forest trail. The route ends in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, where you can admire its castle, built in the 12th century.

This circuit connects some notable points in the northern part of the Saint Germain forest: a riding school and former theatre, a hunting lodge, a pond, a former shooting range and a 10-pointed star (crossroads). There are no particular difficulties, except for watching out for horse riders, who are numerous at weekends (horses have right of way).

A very pleasant walk that begins along the surrounding wall of a castle beautifully set in its grounds. The walk takes you through the hamlet of Héréville with its beautiful houses and charming tranquillity. Although the route ends on a road, it is very quiet and the narrowness of the road forces cars to drive at a speed that makes them very tolerable.

The banks of the Seine and the hillsides in Triel-sur-Seine

A varied hike: riverside paths, farmland, forest trails, with the added bonus of discovering a megalithic ruin. The rolling hills of the region offer beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

A hike from station to station which, with a few climbs, leads from the Seine valley to the Oise valley. After the streets, alleys and paths of Triel-sur-Seine and Chanteloup-les-Vignes, you cross the Hautil Forest in a very pleasant way. Three beautiful churches and two beautiful farmhouses are to be discovered along the way.

This walk through the old streets of Verneuil, its parks and gardens is not difficult. The walk continues through the forest and along some of its varied paths. End of the urban route, nice little shops, cheese shop, bakery, etc. Finally, a gently sloping path leads to the station.

This route is a circular route that will take you to Saint-Martin Church in Triel-sur-Seine, the castle and church in Vaux-sur-Seine, and Verneuil-sur-Seine Castle. The climb up to the heights of Triel offers panoramic views over part of the valley. For the first few kilometres, you’ll follow the GR®1 (a 570 km circular route around Paris) before returning via the GR® de Pays “La Seine Impressionniste” and the Verneuil-sur-Seine leisure centre.

This walk, which initially follows the Seine to Villennes, will allow you to see many different aspects of the riverbanks and the surrounding area. You will then take the town’s narrow streets, before heading back down through the woods and fields to Verneuil.

A varied hike through woods and fields with two beautiful churches in Bréançon and Le Heaulme. Lovely views over vast fields of green wheat, dotted here and there with red poppies. It's a shame there's a bit too much road.

The Croix des Friches dates from the Middle Ages and marked the boundary between the communes of Parmain and Nesles-la-Vallée. The beautiful Forêt de la Tour du Lay is home to a Neolithic polishing stone. A hike mainly through woodland, with a few sections between cultivated fields.

A hike from station to station in two stages. In the first stage, you stay at a higher elevation and enjoy beautiful views of the Seine and its valley. In the second stage, you stay closer to the river. The beautiful Saint-Martin Church in Herblay and the important river transport industry in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine add to the charm of this hike.

A circular starting from Hédouville takes you through Hodan, Messelan and Frouville.
