Pic de Borée from Trossy

The Pic de Borée offers superb panoramic views of both Lake Geneva and the Chablais massif. The route suggested here is probably not the most popular, but it offers an interesting variety of landscapes.

Description of the walk

Access:
From Bernex, head towards Trossy / La Fétuière / Dent d'Oche. Drive through the village of Trossy at moderate speed (the road is very narrow). At the Pont de Morgon bridge, continue straight ahead (do not take the bridge; do not follow the signs for La Fétuière). Ignore the turn-off to Le Chon on the left, continue for about 400 m along the road and park in the car park on the right-hand side.

Directional signs at major intersections

(R/L) Continue on the road, which turns into a track. Cross the Ruisseau des Plénets and go up the valley.

(1) At the fork, take the left-hand path and cross another stream. Further on, cross the Ruisseau des Lanches. At the next fork, take the left-hand path. Climb up several hairpin bends, ignore a turn-off on the left and continue to a crossroads.

(2) Turn right (east) and climb gently.

(3) At a fork, take the path on the right towards Neuvaz dessus and pass the ruined Lanches chalets (red and white markings). Climb steeply and go around a promontory to the west. You will come out at the foot of a large sloping pasture (signpost), near the Chalets de Neuvaz dessus (abandoned).

(4) Turn left and climb up the pasture. Contrary to what the IGN map suggests, there is no trail: you will have to find your own way up the switchbacks. The pasture is bordered on the right by a fence (barbed wire), which you will reach at the top of the slope.

(5) Follow the ridge to the Pic de Borée, first descending slightly and then climbing gently ( the ridge is narrow in places). A final short but steep climb brings you to the summit.

(6) Descend on the other side, following the ridge eastwards. Immediately afterwards, turn left into a couloir (equipped with a rope or not, depending on the year). Be careful on the descent, especially if the ground is wet. You will reach the arrival station of a chairlift.

(7) Go around the right side of the chairlift arrival point, then keep the arrival point of a ski lift on your right. Descend on a steady slope between the two ski lifts (north-west; "Les Myrtilles" ski slope in winter).

(8) Shortly after passing the arrival point of another ski lift, turn left. Pass under the ski lift line and then under the chairlift line. Then turn left (south-west) and descend with a few turns on a wide and fairly steep path.

(3) At the intersection you took on the way up, continue straight ahead (west).

(2) At the next junction, bear left towards Trossy and descend steadily.

(1) At the fork, bear right and descend the valley to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Hiking boots and equipment are essential.

No water sources have been identified along the route.

A 1:25,000 map is required (at least the one accompanying this description).
N.B. Throughout the area, the place name "Neuvaz" is written with a z, but it is written without a z on the IGN map (because the z is not pronounced). The local spelling, with a z, has been used here.

Worth a visit

From the summit, there is a magnificent view of Lake Geneva and the Mémises (north) and the Chablais Massif (south), with the Tour Salière and the Ruan in the background, as well as the Aiguille Verte.

Very beautiful hike, steep climb over a short distance. A little busy at the top of the peak. Magnificent panoramic view (between the wisps of mist)

Very few people on the circuit and at the top of Pic de Boré.
Just a little difficulty finding the small path back (under the chairlifts and ski lifts), but otherwise the directions were very clear.
However, there was only one sign indicating the direction of the Pic de Boré.

Beautiful and enjoyable hike. It's a shame to dive at the top of the ski lifts when descending from the Pointe. Otherwise: Magnificent
