Start from the car park at Col d'Hurtières.
(S/E) Take the forest track that climbs gently towards the woods, behind the barrier blocking cars.
(1) When you reach a small path on the right, take a short detour into the field on the left to admire the view of the Chartreuse and the Grésivaudan valley, then rejoin the forest track.
(2) Continue straight on at this junction. See alternative route in the ‘Practical Information’ section.
(3) Not far from the Grange de Bel aux Airs, turn right onto the small path that leads into the forest. You’ll reach the meadow at the Grange de Couvet. Take a moment to breathe in the air; the view is idyllic. Continue straight on along the path, passing under the walnut trees to reach the hamlet of Les Berts. Turn slightly left onto the road and continue straight on.
(4) At the first junction, walk a few metres to the right to join the Chemin des Fauvettes (signposted). Follow this path out of the hamlet, then climb alongside a stream. When you reach the road, turn left and continue straight on through the bend to join a path.
(5) At the end of the track, continue straight on to descend onto the road, then follow it to the right.
(6) At the junction with the bins, turn right and cross the hamlet of Villard Bernard. As you leave the hamlet, enjoy the view of the Crêt de Chazay. Continue straight on to reach the Col d'Hurtières (S/E).
