Park in Laval in the small car parks
(S/E) Set off along the Chemin de la Foire and head up to the right along a steep path, then turn left to discover the Montfallet Tower (under restoration) and the breathtaking view of the Chartreuse mountains.
(1) Retrace your steps, keep the road on your right and, after a few metres, leave the wide path to take a steep path (GRP®) on the right leading to Lancelot.
(2) After skirting Lancelot on the right, at the end of the access road, take a steep path opposite. Follow the ridge via the GR® de Pays Tour du Balcon des Sept Laux to the Col du Lautaret, a minor variant of the real Col du Lautaret where many inattentive cyclists get lost. Leave the GRP®.
(3) Leave the GRP® and turn right onto the D 280 road, heading towards the junction with the D 528.
(4) Take a small path on the right opposite the hairpin bend. Join a road that leads onto the D 528 and turn left towards Le Fuzier.
(5) Turn left again towards Le Planyessard. Pass under a power line, join a road at the entrance to the hamlet (cross) and cross through it.
(6) Just after the school, turn right and follow the road which crosses the Ravin du Muret via the Gorge bridge and rejoins the D 280f.
(7) Turn right and continue along the road to Bérot.
(8) As you leave the hamlet, don’t miss the path that descends steeply to the right into the forest to the hamlet of Le Ruisseau.
(9) Turn right onto the road, cross the bridge and head up the Route de l’Envers, passing close to the castle and the church, to reach the starting point in Laval (S/E).
between Les Crêts and the Col du Lautaret, a very pretty alternative route branches off to the right at a picnic table. This is the Chemin du Haut Fuzier, which rejoins the circuit at the Col du Lautaret. This old path has recently been restored to use. There is a sign and map at the fork. The view is clearer and the path sunnier.
