Notschreipass - Titisee

The start of this hike is at the Waldhotel, at Notschreipass.

Signposting: Schwarzwald Westweg (Westliche variante), red diamonds.

(S) From the Waldhotel, heading south-east, follow the road to a car park.

(1) Turn left and rejoin the Westweg (Westliche Variante). Cross the various cross-country skiing facilities and turn east onto a wide track.

(2) At a fork, leave the main trail and follow the red diamond markings. On a wide path, head east and return to the Berggasthof Stübenwasen.

(3) At the sign, turn right onto the trail until you reach another fork.

(4) Follow the signs for Feldberg and begin the ascent to the summit. Arrive at the St Wilhelmer Hütte.

(5) At the refuge, turn left. Take the path that starts with steps, towards Feldberg.

(6) At Feldberg, pass a building, follow the road for about 150 metres eastwards and find the start of a path marked by a red diamond.

(7) Turn right and begin the descent to a crossroads called Grüble.

(8) Stay on the Westweg and continue downhill to a crossroads of forest tracks with a superb log cabin.

(9) Take advantage of the hut and benches for a lunch break. As indicated on the sign for Titisee, rejoin the Westweg, taking the trail furthest to the right. Walk north-east until you come to a sign for Titisee.

(10) Head south-east, following the red diamond signs, and you will gradually arrive at the hamlet of Kesslerberg.

(11) Turn right and join a road that turns south-east. At the end of the village, look out for a small path on the left marked with a red diamond.

(12) Leave the road, turn left and cross a meadow until you reach the edge of a wood.

(13) Turn right, start a fairly steep climb, go around a few properties and come out onto a forest track.

(14) Cross the forest track and stay on the Westweg, which branches off to the right. Continue through the forest until you come to a small road.

(15) As indicated by the sign, take the road north for about 50 metres and look for another sign for Titisee.

(16) Leave the road and take a forest path to gradually approach the lake.

(17) Descend towards the lake, go around a campsite and join Strandbadstrasse. Follow the path around the lake (Grosse Seerunde) to the Maritim hotel, where you will spend the night. (E)
