At Pignan (coming from Carnoules), do not enter the village, continue on the D97 and then take a small road that leads to the summit of Notre-Dame des Anges. Pass under the motorway and park shortly afterwards on the right.
(S/E) From the car park, follow the Route du Cros and at the three-way junction, take the beautiful wide track on the right, leaving the forest road that climbs to the summit of Notre-Dame des Anges. Continue along the track, keeping it on your right through the chestnut and cork oak trees. You will pass several fords.
(1) At the first hairpin bend, leave the track and take the path that climbs steeply opposite through the woods. The slope is steeper but not particularly difficult, until you reach the tarmac road called "Route des crêtes Marc Robert".
(2) Follow it to the left for about 350 metres and you will reach the pass. From here, the view of the Hyères Islands is magnificent.
(3) From the pass, take the path that climbs up to the left along the Notre-Dame forest road. This is theGR®90, marked in red and white. Yellow markings are also visible. Be careful at the start, as the trail is difficult to spot due to brush clearing for fire prevention. Follow these markings to the summit of Notre-Dame des Anges and its pylon.
(4) At the summit, enjoy the 360° panorama as you walk around the plateau. There are numerous tables available for picnics. The sanctuary and chapel are open. An orientation table is located on the edge of the southern plateau. Then take theGR®, marked in red and white and yellow, heading north to descend to Pignan. When you reach the road.
(5) Turn left for about 50 metres, then take the path on the right which descends steeply to rejoin the road, which you follow to the right for a few metres.
(6) After the bend, leave the road and descend again on the path on the right through the chestnut trees to rejoin the road a little further down.
(7) Follow the road to the right, pass the first hairpin bend, and take the path that descends north-west. Throughout the descent, numerous oratories line the path, in a wood of chestnut and cork oak trees. Many chestnut trees have been felled. Continue onthe GR® without leaving it until you reach the motorway.
(8) Take the track that climbs up to the left to return to the starting point (S/E).
