Park at the Route de Verneville car park in Châtel-Saint-Germain.
(S/E) Walk up Route de Verneville and look for the path that climbs to the right after about a hundred metres (the path is not visible on the IGN map).
(1) Follow the "Rond Rose" (Promenade de l'Orchidée) sign on the right and stay on this path, which turns right then left before climbing steeply to the archaeological remains. Once you arrive, continue straight ahead until you reach Route de Guerre (dirt road).
(2) Turn right onto this road, then follow the same road as it turns left and enters the Bois Communal de Châtel. Continue straight ahead until you reach a tarmac road (a road that is rarely or never used by cars). Turn left onto this road and continue straight ahead. After a left-hand bend, pass a road that turns right (for enthusiasts: Fort de la Folie is at the end of this road), a path that turns left, and continue straight ahead until the next crossroads (fields on the left).
(3) At the crossroads, stay on the military road that turns slightly to the left (for enthusiasts: Fort Leipzig is at the end of the road on the right) and take the path that turns left. Continue straight ahead on this path, which cuts across fields until you come to a small gravel car park by the roadside.
(4) Turn right at this car park, go up Route de Verneville (tarmac road) and take the dirt road that turns 90° to the left. Continue straight ahead. At the V-shaped crossroads, turn left onto the road that leads into the forest. Continue along this road until you pass a ruined house and a tin hut on the left. About 50 metres further on, take a path that climbs at a 45° angle to the right (note that this is a relatively wide path, not a trail). Pass a trail that turns right.
(5) Take the first path on the right and continue straight ahead on this path, then walk along the fields on the right and look for the Hêtre des Batailles (remarkable tree) hidden at the edge of the woods on the left. Continue along the path and pass a poultry farm ("Chez Delphine").
(6) Continue straight ahead on the road, which is now tarmac, and take the first path on the left that leads into the woods (white sign: Rozérieulles 2.2km). Pass a French grave from the 1870 war on the left, a German war memorial on the right, and continue on the straight path that runs alongside a departmental road on the right. At the V-shaped junction, turn left before coming out onto a tarmac road. Turn left onto this road and continue to the next junction.
(7) Continue straight ahead (for enthusiasts: a tarmac road on the left allows you to make a loop within the Jeanne d'Arc Fortified Group) and take the path that turns 45° to the right (just to the right of a tree with a military sign hanging on it). Continue along this dirt road which descends towards Rozérieulles without turning off. Pass a few houses and gardens, go past the vineyards on the left and look for a tennis court on the left.
(8) Turn left immediately after the tennis court (Résidence les Clairières) and take the first street that goes up to the right (no entry). Continue straight on this street until it becomes a path that leads into the forest. Enter the Bois Lemoine by following this path which goes uphill and runs alongside a low stone wall on the left. Then take a wide path that descends to the right (marked by stone markers on the right). Continue along this path without leaving it until you reach a V-shaped crossroads.
(9) At the crossroads, take the path that descends to the right. Continue straight ahead and turn right twice before starting the descent on a very steep path (red and purple round markers). Continue on this path, which descends straight ahead, before turning left towards Châtel-Saint-Germain.
(10) Once you reach Rue de Cléry, turn left and continue straight ahead on Rue de la Bonne Fontaine until you reach the cemetery. Take the path that continues along the street running alongside the cemetery to return to the car park on Route de Verneville (S/E).
