Circular route around Montardit
This pleasant, short walk takes you along good paths through pretty hamlets and beautiful forests of chestnut, beech and oak trees. There are a few lovely views. It can be done in all seasons.
Bout de la Forêt trail in Contrazy
This hike takes place mainly on agricultural and forest tracks with beautiful views of the Pyrenean foothills. Contrazy is a hamlet that you will only discover when you see the sign, as it is nestled in its green surroundings. Beautiful renovated farms, a remarkable church, a street decorated with flowers. On the way back, don't miss the unusual Notre-Dame de la Goutte chapel in Montardit.
The hills of Montbrun-Bocage via Les Cabanères
This walk will allow you to explore the open countryside around Montbrun-Bocage and take you to the Plantaurel ridge via old paths and forest tracks. You will come across numerous springs and streams. A GPS will be essential as signposting is virtually non-existent.

Loop around Montfa
A beautiful hike on the Plantaurel massif which, from the village of Monfa, will take you on well-marked trails with beautiful climbs to discover surprising local habitats, beautiful views, the Roc du Cor, the Les Moulis Ecomuseum, the hamlet of Camarde, and the Couminge dolmen. You may see herds of geese, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses.
The Argain tour in Montesquieu-Volvestre
The Volvestre inter-communal tourist office offers a marked and secure route.
You will appreciate the calm and serenity of the hamlet of Argain, which will welcome you before or after your walk. This is a pleasant short hike with an uphill section that allows you to admire the hillsides of Volvestre against the backdrop of the Pyrenean peaks.
If you prefer circulars, you can return via the small road through the woods rather than going back through the forest. To do this, at the point (6), turn right and follow the road to the chapel.
On the hills above Montbrun-Bocage
Circular walk above Montbrun with views over the village, the ruins of its castle, the Chapel of Montaut and its spring. A walk through the forest with lovely views of the bocage.
Circuit from Notre-Dame de Montaut to Montbrun-Bocage
A family walk on well-maintained and marked trails through forests, pastures and varied landscapes, with a view of the Pyrenees from the ridge. This route allows you to discover a rich heritage: the village with its half-timbered houses, a ruined castle, an outdoor sculpture exhibition, and more. The loop begins or ends, depending on your choice, at Lac de Bouydou, a fishing lake with pontoons, picnic tables and a barbecue. This route can be done in either direction.
From Lescure to Rimont via Clot du Pau
In the heart of nature, through the forest of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Nature Park, climb the ridge from Lescure to Rimont and overlook the Little Pyrenees with a magnificent view of Mont Valier and the Montcalm massif. Turn around and admire the rolling landscapes of the Séronnais, Arize, Couserans and Volvestre valleys.

From narrow streets to footpaths, this route takes walkers from Saint-Lizier to Montcaliver, a viewpoint overlooking the entire Couseranne valleys and the splendid peaks dominated by the lord of the Couseranne: Mont Vallier.⚠️ On 18 May 2026, a user reported:>Between points (5) and (6), the route passes through private property. From the Bishops’ Palace to the Marsan Chapel in Saint-Lizier
An easy walk, mostly in the shade. Mainly a dirt track, tarmac only in Saint-Lizier. You’ll enjoy superb views of the Pyrenees, the Bishops’ Palace and Saint-Lizier Cathedral.
Circular around the village of Bagert
A family walk on wide, well-maintained and marked trails between forest and pastures with splendid views of the Pyrenees. The route can be done in both directions: the opposite direction to the one described is perhaps even more beautiful! The markings are easy to follow.
Trémau sinkhole, starting from Saint-Girons
This mostly shaded walk offers varied views of the valleys and hills at the foot of the Sourroque massif, with a wild feel in places, all close to Saint-Girons.

Plan Circular
This circular loop starts at Le Plan and passes through Pradette, Coumo Tortos and La Piche, returning along the Volp. It is not difficult and has little elevation gain. There is a magnificent view from the Chemin de Coumo Tortos over the Pyrenees and the Cazères plain.
