Park opposite the town hall or near the cemetery as the other streets are narrow.
(S/E) Go back down to the D335 and continue east along the road to the three-way junction. Keep right on the road and, about 300 m before reaching the wash house, turn right onto the first path below. Continue along the bottom of the village until you reach a crossroads.
(1) Turn left towards the bottom of the valley.
(2) At the fork, take the right-hand branch and descend to the stream in the undergrowth. Climb up the other side and join a small ridge road where you will discover the first viewpoint over the Pyrenees. Join a road.
(3) Turn right and follow it to a place called Bergès.
(4) Take the path on the right through the undergrowth just before the first barn in the hamlet of Bergès. Cross the stream again and begin a steep climb (the only slightly steep section of the route) to reach a wider path. (For those who are interested: we saw a few nuthatches and garden tree creepers at the bottom of the slope).
(5) Turn left and reach the hamlet of Sère to come out onto a small road (D335).
(6) Turn right and follow this road straight ahead to the entrance to Bagert. The view of the Pyrenees is magnificent and the surrounding fields are ideal for a picnic facing the mountains.
(7) Take a shortcut on the left and join Rue de la Mairie. Turn left again, then right shortly after the cemetery to go straight up to the orientation table at the top of a field.
Head back down past the church and cemetery to reach the town hall car park (S/E).
