Molitg-les-Bains walks

A beautiful hike facing the Canigou massif. It takes you up to Pic del Rosselló, from where you enter a spectacular mineral area. Cross a plateau dotted with rounded rock mounds that look as if they were placed there by giants. A magnificent landscape used for grazing, facing the long Pyrenees massif to the south.

A lovely hike combining two circular loops to make a round trip from Molitg-Les-Bains via the Hermitage of Sant Jaume de Calaons, with superb views of the sea, the plain, the Pic du Canigou and the Pic du Madrès.

A quick detour to view the village from above and admire the irrigation system along the canal. Much of the walk is in the shade.

This short walk takes you to see the Catllar Waterfall on the Castellane, near Prades. It is a return trip along the same path. Enjoyable at any time of day.

This hike takes place on paths that are rarely or never used. The route is enhanced by passing through various sites. This long hike ² should be avoided in hot weather despite the low vegetation cover.

A shaded and varied walk offering the most direct route from Prades to Fillols. Once you’ve left the town, you’ll follow paths that are mostly signposted, with the exception of a short stretch of road before the Roc del Ram.

Starting from Ria, this route, in the foothills of the Coronat massif, leads to the discovery of a major site, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. All that remains of the old abandoned village of Bell Lloc or Beau Site are a few house foundations and the12th-century Romanesque chapel of Sant-Andreu-de-Bell-Lloc, which is very well preserved and offers wonderful views of the Canigou massif and the surrounding valleys. The Conat Nature Reserve is a regulated area; picking, gathering and damaging the site are prohibited, and visitors must respect the site. A easy route.

Hike on good trails that allow you to discover mountain chapels. Beautiful views of the Madres Massif. A visit to Conat is also interesting. The only difficulty is above Saint-Christophe Chapel: the trail is unmarked and sometimes difficult to see. It is necessary to know how to use a map and compass and/or how to follow a GPS track. However, it is possible to avoid this section and shorten the hike by connecting the points (3) to (9).

A hike to discover built heritage, pastoral areas, springs and engraved stones. The village of Conat is a typical Catalan village clinging to the mountainside, where life must have been hard and self-sufficient. The main access road to the village is in itself a change of scenery and a prelude to the hike. This hike can be shortened if necessary or due to lack of time. See alternative route in practical information. Please note: it has been reported (07/10/2024) => from point (2) to point (5), the path is very overgrown with thorny bushes. It appears that this path is no longer maintained. There used to be an alternative route from (2) heading north (track on OSM).

A walk offering beautiful views on the ascent of the Madres and Coronat massifs and on the descent towards the Canigou. It gives you a real sense of the importance of pastoral activity in the past, with numerous ruins along the way. The vegetation is varied; at the start there is a forest of holm oak; higher up, there are rockroses and broom. Please note: this walk is not really signposted and, although it generally follows good paths, it requires experience of off-trail walking. A trail map is useful, if not essential.

A pleasant hike in Conflent Roman, on trails partly through the woods, around the Taurinya valley, where the Abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxa (10th and 12th centuries), one of the largest pre-Romanesque churches in Europe, is nestled.
