Start from the car park in front of the local bistro, on Cami de Crueils
(S/E) As you leave the car park, head to the right. At the junction you’ll soon come to, turn right onto Rambla Pau Casals. At the end of the street, turn right.
(1) Continue straight on along Carrer de la Vila.
(2) On leaving the village (wash house), keep left and follow the path (signposted La Boga) which climbs and passes beneath the playground along a magnificent dry-stone wall. Step over a canal and continue until you reach a track.
(3) Follow the track to the left, then go through a gate. Cross the stream via a lovely wooden footbridge, then turn right and head uphill. The path winds several times before reaching a junction at a place called Les Planes.
(4) Continue straight ahead and uphill. Reach a track next to the Cortal d'En Poncí (ruins) and follow it to the right. You will come to a cattle grid.
(5) Turn right along the fence (do not cross the cattle grid). You will soon reach the Dolmen de l'Arca de Calaons.
(6) Continue along the path. Look out for a closed wooden gate: you must step over it or pass under the wires. You will reach a large boundary stone. The yellow markings reappear. Descend to the D619.
(7) Cross the road and continue along the path opposite. You will come to a track; follow it to the left.
(8) Continue straight on (south-east), ignoring the turnings on the left, until you reach Sant Jaume de Calaons (Chapel of Saint James of Calaons).
(9) Retrace your steps.
(8) Leave the track to the right onto a small path (hard to see but there is a yellow marker). Climb up through old cultivated terraces and pass several orris.
(10) Reach a track and follow it to the left (views of the sea, the plain, the Pic du Canigou to the south and the Pic du Madrès to the east).
(11) Turn right and follow a path not shown on the map. Climb the Roc de la Rondola and descend to join the D619.
(12) Cross the road and head uphill. At each junction, keep left. Reach the Canadian crossing and cross it.
(5) Head back down to Les Planes via the same route as on the way up.
(4) Follow the La Boga path to the left. Descend to a track.
(13) Follow the track to the right towards the village.
(14) At a large boulder, leave the track and head down to the left. Cross a stream via a pretty bridge and head back up. Join the road and follow it to the left to the village.
(2) Follow Carrer de la Vila to the left.
(1) Turn left onto Cami Nou. This takes you round the village to the east. At the crossroads, follow Cami de Cruells to the right and you will soon reach the car park (S/E).
