There are several ways to get to the starting point for this hike (see Practical Information).
(S/E) Head towards Route de la Gare. You will find yourself in a cul-de-sac. Go back up to Place Marcel Cachin.
(1) Turn left onto Route de la Chapelle. This street is named after the chapel nestled in this beautiful park. Take the time to enter this enclosure and admire this beautiful building, which has been maintained by volunteers for many years. Under the porch, photographs recount the renovation work carried out over the years. You will have a view of the Trieux behind the building. Then turn around and take the Route de Huellan on your left to reach the Chemin des Ajoncs.
(2) Turn right. Be careful, there is a small sign indicating a small moat that is easy to step over. Follow this road to the end to reach Rue Alain Barbetorte.
(3) Continue to the right and stop after the house at No. 2. You will see the monolithic crosses. The story behind them is written on a notice board. Then turn left onto Côte de Traou Land. Pass the house at No. 13 to reach a small forest path on your left.
(4) Turn left, leaving the road ahead of you to go left. Just before a prefabricated garage on your left, take the path on the right.
(5) Turn right and go straight ahead along the small path until you reach a large concrete slab, which serves as a footbridge.
(6) At the fork marked by a large rock, turn right to reach Ty Caër. Continue straight ahead, passing a pretty farmhouse with a large flower garden. This garden has won the flower competition for many years.
(7) At the intersection, turn right. Pass behind some old chicken coops on your left and continue straight ahead until you reach the intersection with Route de Paimpol Penhoat.
(8) Cross this road. Watch out for cars. Walk along a pasture. Be careful of the fences. Come out onto Rue Hent Ar Chapel. Turn left until you reach the crossroads (mirrors). This section is the Green Trail in the opposite direction.
(9) Turn right onto Route de Saint-Ambroise and pass the chapel of the same name. Enter, there is no gate. On your right, you will see a small fountain. Continue until you reach number 34.
(10) Turn left and immediately turn right onto the path. Follow this path to the end, then walk along a field of paulownia trees, clearly marked by a fence on your right. Continue, ignore the small path on your right and keep going until you reach the main road, Chemin François Ollivier.
(11) Take care when crossing. Take this road, then turn slightly to the right and continue to the end until you see the Penhoat football pitch. You will arrive between two houses. Turn left onto Route de Kerjean, then right onto the very shady Chemin de Kermainguy, opposite, before reaching the road of the same name.
(12) Turn right onto Route de Kermainguy, continue to the crossroads, then turn left onto Route de Frynaudour, which is the main road in Penhoat. Be careful and stay on the pavement. Continue straight ahead until you reach Route de Saint-Jean.
(13) Leave the road on your left and pass in front of the Saint-Jean Chapel. Notice the rooster on top of the bell tower.Following a violent gust of wind, it was restored in 2023 by a weather vane maker from Pontrieux. Continue to Route du Shérif.
(14) Follow it to the right until you reach Route de Coat Ermit.
(15) Turn left. Be careful not to turn right, as this is a dead end. Also keep the Route de Kerbruc on your left. At the fork, turn right towards the Maison de l'Estuaire and continue straight ahead.
(16) In front of the pillars that serve as the entrance to the Manoir de Traou Nez/Maison de l'Estuaire, keep to your right. Follow the Vélomaritime sign (Estuaire du Trieux, follow Paimpol) to the end of this road, which is part of the Penhoat-Lancerf massif.
(17) At the Côte de Traou Land, turn left until you reach Place Marcel Cachin.
(1) Return to the starting point by following the same route you took on the way there (S/E).
