Departure From the Quai des Pêcheurs just after the municipal school of fine arts, at the rear entrance of the Leclerc car park.
(S/E) Leave the town centre behind you and pass under the railway line. Follow the red circle markings.
(1) Stay on the right-hand path and cross a small footbridge over the "L'ancienne Ill" river, then follow the Ill along a pleasant tree-lined dirt track. Follow the blue-white-blue and blue diamond markings.
(2) When you reach the municipal campsite and Rue Pierre de Coubertin, turn right and cross the Japanese Bridge. Turn left just after the bridge and continue until you reach the road, which you will cross, continuing straight ahead. Walk alongside the regional sports centre and enter the "Bois de Philosophes" (Philosophers' Wood).
(3) Pass the white bridge, a modern steel structure, and continue straight ahead. Follow the blue diamond markings. You will come to a housing estate at the entrance to Didenheim.
(4) At the housing estate, turn left and then right after 20 metres to return to the banks of the Ill. Continue along the Ill, which has become wilder and more natural with a few rapids and a stronger current.
(5) When you reach the road, turn left to cross the Ill via the Erbland Bridge and immediately turn left after the bridge to turn around and follow the Ill on the other bank in the opposite direction. Continue along a recently constructed dyke (2016-2017). Walk alongside a housing estate while staying close to the Ill. Then walk alongside a sports field just before you reach the white metal bridge that crosses the Ill.
(6) Cross this bridge to the left to return to the route you took on the way there.
(3) Turn right immediately after the white bridge and follow the path in the opposite direction (S/E).
