The Airials, the Petite Leyre and the sports trail from Luxey

Luxey is a small rural village best known for its "street music" show, which monopolises the village for three days, but also for its many unmarked footpaths. This attracts walkers looking for sporting activities (walking, mountain biking, mountain biking).

Unmarked trail.

Area frequented by the hunting club (take care in season).

Description of the walk

Car parks Place Saint-Roch in front of the church and near the retirement home and town hall.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head south-west towards Rue Blanche Baron. At the fork in the road, turn right/left quickly, cross carefully and follow Rue de Pinton for approximately 50 m.

(1) Turn left onto Chemin de Courraou et Pinasse. Follow this wide road for a long distance, always going straight ahead and ignoring the prompts on the right and left. Reach a crossroads.

(2) Go straight ahead and pass the Pinasse airial. Continue straight on until you reach another four-way junction.

(3) At a transformer, turn left into Chemin de la Cigarey et Houast, a small rural road. Pass several airials and continue around the left-hand bend.

(4) At the second left-hand bend, turn left onto a wide track, which is a little bumpy at first. Cross a crossroads and continue, crossing an old wooden footbridge. You will come to a crossroads.

(5) Turn right, cross the Route de Labrit and follow the track opposite towards Capdet. Stay on this track, passing between properties (Capdet), until you come to a private property. Turn left in front of the property and follow the fence to the Route de Lencouacq (D9). Turn right onto this road.

(6) When you reach a high-voltage power line, turn left onto Chemin de l'Araba. Dive down towards the valley of the Petite Leyre stream.

(7) Do not go over the bridge, but continue straight ahead. Climb gradually up the forest track. Keep to the right on this path, cross a crossroads and continue to the end. Turn right and then quickly left (do not go up towards the pidgeon hunting hut). Continue straight ahead.

(8) At this point you can choose to :
- Go right along the sports trail, following this description and the GPS track.
- Continue as far as the Route de Lencouaq.
Then turn right onto this road to return to the heart of the village(S/E).

Worth a visit

This small village comes alive mainly during seasonal events (shows, folklore).

In August, there is a three-day "musicalarue", the date of which varies from year to year.
