Description of the walk

Car park in front of Pissos Church (be careful at the road junction)

(S/E) With your back to the church, use the pedestrian crossing on the main road (be careful when crossing), opposite the shops. Walk along the pavement towards Mont-de-Marsan to the south (Rue du Pont Battant). Cross the stream. Turn right onto Route de Daugnague.

(1) Before the junction with Route de Pignada Pelay, with a water tower in sight, cross at the pedestrian crossing and walk along the left-hand side of Route de Daugnague (path for pedestrians and cyclists). Continue past the greenway until you reach the leisure areas.

(2) Enter the car park and walk through it past the Pissos school; turn right at the far end and head straight into the pine forest. On this sandy track, continue almost straight ahead towards the south-west.

(3) Cross the Pont d’Escoursolles bridge and continue to the neighbourhood of the same name. At the road, near a wayside cross, turn left, then right.

(4) Turn right again onto Rue du Meunier to complete almost a circular route of this neighbourhood.

(5) At the inverted three-way junction, turn sharply left in front of a large transformer; stay on this road amongst the houses and gradually head away, straight ahead. Cross the large ditch (drainage) then the Ruisseau du Mourdouat. Continue along this road until you reach a wide track.

(6) Turn right onto this track and follow it for a long way, ignoring any side paths, until you reach a crossroads with a few wooden chalets.

(7) Continue straight on along Chemin de Mourcaou until you reach the Route des Lacs (D43).
Cross with care and follow the Route de Castelnau opposite for about 200 metres.

(8) Turn right onto the path that winds its way between Camelebrey Park and Caplanne Park. Stay on this path until you reach the Camelebrey neighbourhood and the junction with Route de Menroux.

(9) Cross the road and continue straight ahead along the small road between the properties (due east). Admire the beautiful buildings as you make your way along this street.

(10) Turn left onto Rue du Jacon, amongst the beautiful properties, then left again onto Chemin de Sauboua.

(11) At a four-way junction, turn right onto Route de Menroux. At the end of this road, turn left onto Route des Lacs, which leads you to the junction with the D834.
At this junction, take care and use the pedestrian crossings to reach the car park in front of the church (S/E).

There are much shorter alternative routes starting from the same point.

At (1), do not cross but turn right onto Route de Pignada Pelay. Rejoin the route at (7) and continue to the finish.
After (2), rather than following theGR® 655 and leaving the school grounds, head into the woodland to the north-north-west along the path that joins the cycle path; turn right onto this path until you reach the wide track, then turn right again towards (7) and continue as described in the general route description until the finish.

There is a longer alternative route from the same starting point. Before turning right at the Wpt (4), carry on straight ahead and then turn left (please note that you will be leaving the Way of St James andGR®655signposting); this is a round-trip route that circles the Daugnague neighbourhood (featuring typical Landes-style houses).
