The summit of Andran from Digne-les-Bains

A very pleasant walk. Up to (3), there are numerous views of Digne and its surroundings. At the top of the Andran (6), there is a beautiful 360° panorama. On the way back, there is a very beautiful passage before Courbons.

Description of the walk

Head to the station car park on Avenue Pierre Semard. You can park here without any problems.

(S/E) Go around the roundabout and head east towards the Rond-Point des Insurgés. Continue towards the tourist office. Soon, on your left, you will come to the hospital hill.

(1) At the signpost, head towards L'Andran. Continue for about 600 m until you reach the Gaguerenard crossroads.

(2) Continue climbing towards L'Andran. This section has a significant elevation gain, and after numerous hairpin bends, you will reach a small tarmac road. You are now at Hubac de Saumon.

(3) Follow this road on your right. Soon, the signposts will indicate that you should take the path on the right. After about 500 m, you will rejoin the road at Chemin de Blanchard.

(4) Set off opposite, still heading towards L'Andran. Cross the road four times, then you will arrive at Le Pied du Relais.

(5) Turn right towards the antennas. Continue until you reach the wind sock. You are now at the summit. From here, enjoy the 360° panorama.

(6) Continue north and descend to the junction with the marked path at Baisse des Chatières.

(7) There, take the hairpin bend to the left onto the track to reach the Pied du Relais, which you already passed on the way up.

(5) Then take the path back the way you came to Chemin de Blanchard.

(4) Descend the road to Courbons on the right. Quickly take the path on the right. This part is really very pleasant (lots of flowers, amazing geology, etc.). Walk to the entrance to Courbons.

(8) You can take a tour of the hilltop village and then return to the entrance.

(8) Then head right towards Les Hautes Sieyes. Cut across the bend in the road.

(9) Follow the signs along the road, then turn left towards Adrech des Hautes Sieyes.

(10) Climb up opposite to Les Hautes Sieyes. Pass between the stone houses. Then follow the signs for Digne. Descend to Avenue de Verdun.

(11) Follow it to the left for about 600 m. You will arrive at the Rond-Point du Quatre Septembre. On the left, you will find your starting point (S/E).

A beautiful hike with no particular difficulties, apart from the heat on that day. There were still some magnificent flowers, very pleasant.

a very beautiful hike with just the right amount of elevation gain, in my opinion, to work your muscles without being too exhausted. A sublime view at the highest point. A return hike with a bird's eye view of Dignes. A well-marked route. Really, a very good time was had by all.

Hike completed on 29/09/2024.
A very beautiful hike starting directly from Digne. The first part of the climb is quite shaded but still offers beautiful views of the town. The summit of Andran is fairly flat, providing a place for cows to graze and leave behind numerous cowpats as souvenirs, so we postponed our picnic. When I reached point 7, I was tempted to climb Martignon to enjoy the 360° view, which takes a good hour there and back. The return journey is really worthwhile, as you cross a very pretty little canyon before discovering the village of Courbons. It's a good idea to stay on the route, which takes you to the charming hamlet of Hautes Sieyes and the remains of a famous medieval round tower.
6:40 a.m. with the climb to Martignon, picnic and reading of the cultural information boards included.
