Description of the walk

Park in one of the free car parks around the swimming pool and the Digne cinema complex.

(S/E) Walk to the roundabout by the tourist office, cross with care, then turn left onto the Grand Pont to reach a junction.

(1) Turn right onto the uphill street, which follows the^GR®69marked in white and red. Continue along the path that follows it. After a gentle climb, you’ll reach the Caguerenard crossroads.

(2) Keep to the right on the^GR®, following it as it overlooks the wide bed of the Bléone. After a series of gentle ascents and descents, you’ll reach the ‘Musée Promenade’ signpost.

(3) Now take the tarmac road for a few dozen metres. At the junction with the D900a, turn right. Cross the Pont des Arches to reach the left bank of the Bléone.

(4) Continue along the pavement to the left of the road. You’ll come to a Y-junction.

(5) Cross the road and turn right onto the shared cycle and footpath. Follow this until you reach the tourist information centre. Cross the roads carefully to return to the swimming pool car park (S/E).

It’s very easy to get to the walk from Digne town centre. We really enjoyed the route, although it was a bit too hot that day given the many stretches in the sun; I’d recommend doing it outside of periods of intense heat.
The return journey along the road was a bit less pleasant at the start than at the end, which runs alongside a cycle path with plenty of trees.
