Park in the small car park at Col du Pertus, which can be reached from Mandailles-Saint-Julien or Saint-Jacques-des-Blats.
(S/E) Follow theGR® 400 (white and red markings) north-east.
(1) At the intersection, continue on theGR® slightly to the right, through the undergrowth until you reach a track.
(2) Continue in the same direction on theGR® which goes around the Puy de l'Usclade to the east. A few clearings allow you to see the cone of Puy Griou straight ahead. Reach the Col de Gliziou and continue opposite.
(3) Keep left, still following the GR®. Ignore a path branching off to the right further up, turn left with the path and you will reach a T-junction.
(4) Turn right and continue climbing until you reach the intersection with the Sentier de la Vacherie du Griou.
(5) Turn left onto theGR® which goes around Puy Griou to the west and then curves eastwards, climbing more steeply to reach the base of the summit ridge of Puy Griou.
(6) Leave theGR® and climb to the right towards the summit. Soon the path gives way to an impressive passage where you wonder where to pass between the phonolite blocks, but in the end it's fine, using your hands, without any real danger. Reach Puy Griou.
(7) After enjoying the view from the summit and resting, return via the same route.
(2) Leave the track for the path on the left and join the Col de Pertus (S/E).
