The covered bridge at Linguenau

The starting point is in the centre of Lingenau, in front of the church.

(S/E) Take the main road uphill (Hittisauer), pass the Traube bar. Continue to the first intersection on the right.

(1) Leave the main road, passing just in front of a covered cross placed against a house. Take the^first road on the left, indicated by a sign prohibiting vehicles other than those of residents, walk downhill to the end and to a second covered cross. Go around the last house on the road on the right, walking eastwards to a fork.

(2) Ignore the path that branches off to the right and turn left onto a faintly visible track going uphill on the grassy embankment. After the grassy embankment, continue climbing through the undergrowth until you reach a field and a bench.

(3) Follow the edge of the field, pass another bench and continue along the edge of the field towards the Alfi company warehouse, then continue to road 205, which you must cross to reach the pavement.

(4) Walk right towards the north in the direction of the town sign.

(5) Cross the main road 205 (be careful) and take a smaller road to the Feurstein farm and campsite.

(6) Take a path that runs alongside the farm and the shed on the north side, pass between two large piles of logs and descend into a meadow via the path that curves to the right. Continue south through the woods, following the path as it turns westward and becomes almost horizontal. It then curves, crosses a ford and emerges into a new meadow until you reach a crossroads.

(7) Take the path that descends steeply into the meadow and then continues horizontally westwards until you reach a crossroads.

(8) Turn left and descend to the covered bridge.

(9) Admire the view, then retrace your steps to the previous junction.

(8) Go up the path on the left until you reach the road at the end of a long bridge over the Subersach.

(10) Just before the road, make a hairpin turn to take the path immediately to the right, go around the first house on the left, then the second. Take the children's path at the edge of the woods and follow it to the house you saw just before the fork on the way there.

(2) Take the street on the left in the opposite direction to the way you came until you reach the church square (S/E).

There are no shelters or water points. The route is on good paths.

All the trails described are authorised and marked by the village tourist office. Information boards and QR codes can be consulted along the route.

Between (2) and (7), a path can be taken to shorten the loop.

Between points (10) and (2), the path follows a somewhat old children's activity trail.
