Kesselschwand circular route from Egg

Starting point of the hike: Riezlern Erlenbach bus stop (line 2)

(S/E) We set off from the bus stop on Eggstraße heading north, then take the next left into Obere Eggstraße and the next right. We cross a cross-country ski trail and reach a fork in the path.

(1) We keep to the left and then turn left onto a narrow path.

(2) We descend via steps and ladders to the fascinating natural bridge that spans the Schwarzwasserbach stream here. At the end of the path, we turn right and cross the Aubach stream. At the end, we turn left (if you like, you can take a detour to the right to another bridge over the Schwarzwasserbach).

(3) We reach a few buildings, follow the wide path through Innerschwende and take the second right towards Mahdtalhaus.

(4) We pass the Mahdtalhaus and, at the fork in the path, keep to the left initially to walk a short distance along the Schwarzwasserbach stream. Here, the water rushes down several steps into the depths. At the next building, we turn around and take the next left.

(5) We cross the covered Höflebrücke bridge. At the end of the path, we turn right, then take the next left onto Karolinenweg. The path leads us across fields and back into the forest. Among the trees, we spot a waterfall on the Schwarzwasserbach stream; a sign designates it as a natural monument.

(1) At the fork in the path, which we passed on the way out, we turn left and walk back along the familiar route to the bus stop (S/E).

• Well-signposted winter hiking trail. If you find the narrow path with the steps and ladders at the natural bridge too slippery, you can simply stay on the wider main path.
