Kanzelwandbahn mountain station - Fellhornbahn mountain station

The starting point for this walk is at the Kanzelwand top station in Riezlern (Austria)
(Kanzelwandbahn Bergstation). In the village of Riezlern at the Kanzelwand lower station, take a single journey using the Allgäu-Walser Card.

(S) From the top station, follow trail 446 to the Zweiländer cable car.

(1) Begin the ascent of the Kanzelwand heading south-east to reach a small pass marking the Austrian-German border.

(2) Turn left into Germany to complete the ascent to the summit of the Kanzelwand,

(3) Take in the panoramic views of the various peaks and the border ridge between Austria and Germany. Return to the small pass.

(2) Heading south, begin the descent along path 446 until you reach a junction.

(4) Leave Wanderweg 446, which continues southwards, and head north towards the Fellhorn ski resort. Join a path that descends from the ridge.

(5) Take the path on the right, heading north-east. Pass under a chairlift and continue to the Obere Bierenwangalpe mountain restaurant.

(6) After the restaurant, pass under two ski lifts and then a third as you approach the Fellhorn midway station (E).

For this hike, you’ll need

• A journey up on the Kanzelwand cable car to Riezlern: free with the Allgäu-Walser Card (Kanzelwandbahn Bergfahrt)

• A descent from the Fellhorn midway station down to the valley: free with the Allgäu-Walser Card (Fellhornbahn Talfahrt).

• Return to Oberstdorf on bus route 7 (from the Fellhorn cable car car park, head towards the road after crossing the Stillbach stream, about 300 metres). The bus is free with the Allgäu-Walser Card.
