Departure from Sospel SNCF train station.
(S/E) Follow Boulevard Alfred Borriglione towards the village centre, go down a small staircase on the right and reach the esplanade. Cross it diagonally to arrive in front of the town hall.
(1) Take Rue Saint-Pierre on the left of the town hall to Saint-Michel Cathedral, located on a pretty square with arcaded houses. Turn right onto Rue Vincent Comiti and join Avenue Jean Médecin on the banks of the Bévéra.
Cross the Bévéra via the Pont de la Libération bridge.
(2) Just after the bridge, at marker 70, follow the signs for Col de l'Agaisen via Boulevard Général de Gaulle on the right. Then turn left (marker 71) and take the stairs up to the school (marker 72). Go around the school on the left, climbing up Chemin de Cantamerlo to marker 73.
Then turn right onto the path, still heading towards Col de l'Agaisen. The path is quite steep and you quickly gain altitude. After passing through the forest, you will reach a small, quiet road.
(3) Continue left on the road. Pass two hairpin bends and at thethird, at an intersection (marker 82), go straight up a short path to reach Col de l'Agaisen.
(4) From the pass, take the first track on the right. This quickly turns into a steep path that climbs above the road. Stay on the main track to reach the summit and the structures of Mont Agaisen.
At the summit, continue left along the ridge on a wide path that gradually descends into the pine forest. The slope becomes steeper before reaching an intersection.
(5) Follow theGR® (red and white markings) which descends to the right through the pine trees. After an open section, cross the small road and continue along the path. Join this road again and follow it downhill for about 250 m.
Then descend to the left, following theGR®, to the houses located on the heights of the village (marker 81). Take Chemin du Vier on the right to the college.
(6) Just before the school, there is a staircase leading down to the right of the road. Take this staircase to pass under the road and descend towards the village. Then cross Boulevard Général de Gaulle and reach the charming Place Saint-Nicolas via Rue Collet.
From the square, cross the Pont-Vieux bridge over the Bévéra river and turn left onto Avenue Jean Médecin.
(7) Walk past the inn, then turn right onto Route d'Erc to reach the esplanade (1) opposite the town hall.
(1) Return to the SNCF train station by retracing your steps from the start of the hike (S/E).
