Start: Fays town hall (car park)
(S/E) When you leave the car park, go down to the right where you arrived and, at the bend, take a path on the right that climbs up a wooded ravine. Follow a fence until you reach a dirt track. Enjoy the panoramic view.
(1) Take the path on the left and then immediately right. After a short descent and a ford across a stream, follow a flat path through a magnificent beech forest.
(2) Before the first houses of Lépanges-sur-Vologne, take the path on the right. It will soon follow the edge of the forest. Don't miss the view of the village nestled at the bottom and on the slopes of the Vologne valley. When you reach a dirt track on the heights, turn left.
(3) At the next crossroads, go down Rue de la Bure for 100 metres, then take Rue du Parmont, which you leave to turn left onto Rue de l'Orée du Bois. Leave this street again at a bend and take a dirt track that climbs into the forest.
(4) Back on a wide forest track, turn right and continue for 1 kilometre until you reach a tarmac road.
(5) Follow this road for 200 metres and take the path downhill to the right.
(6) At the edge of the forest, take the path on the left and then quickly turn left onto the road.
(7) Leave Rue des Mauvais Blés and take a dirt track on the left, then turn right twice. The wide forest path will take you to the Bégel stele, then to the old sandstone quarry and finally to the top of the hill (nice view of Bruyères on the way down).
(8) Please note: if you are tired, you can return to the car park via Rue de la Creuse.
Otherwise, you have 3.5 kilometres to go. Take the grassy path at the edge of the forest, which will take you back to the forest.
(9) Be careful not to miss the path on your right! Head left when you reach the path. Agricultural landscape, views of Bruyères and the Vologne valley, forest with various tree species, springs along the way, but remember to take a path on the right when you reach the edge of the forest near a farm. This path will take you back to the village and, going downhill to the right, to the car park (S/E).
