Park in the car park of the Lans-en-Vercors Tourist Office
(S/E) Turn left onto the main road for a few dozen metres, then take the first left onto the old tram track. Continue to the junction at the end of the buildings.
(1) Continue straight ahead along this track. Pass the Bois Noir chalets and then a sawmill.
You will reach the junction with Route des Hérauds.
(2) Turn right onto this road and cross the A-road with extreme caution.
Take the marked path which starts opposite, to the left of a house, and pass through the houses of the hamlet of La Côte. At the next crossroads, take the path on the right (marked yellow) up towards the Col de la Croix Perrin. Follow this path northwards for a short distance, running parallel to the Combe du Molard and climbing very steadily.
You will come to a four-way crossroads.
(3) Here, leave the marked path which heads downhill to the left and continue straight on.
Continue along the path climbing through a field until you reach a road; follow this up to the last house in the hamlet of La Cordelière. Pass under the high-voltage power line and you’ll come to another crossroads.
(4) Take the yellow-marked path opposite. Continue the climb, crossing a forest track. Continue straight on to reach the large car park at the Col de la Croix Perrin. Here too, take great care when crossing the busy road, especially as visibility is poor.
(5) Behind the restaurant, take the marked path on the right leading up to the Croix de Jaume. Further on, you’ll reach the Combe de Rui; continue until you reach the ridge. At the junction of the two paths, take the one on the right to reach the Croix de Jaume. Enjoy the exceptional panorama with a splendid view of Mont Blanc, weather permitting.
(6) Begin the descent by following the ridge, passing under the high-voltage power line. During the descent, leave a path on your right heading towards the Col de la Croix Perrin. Continue on to a hairpin bend.
(7) Change direction by almost 180° and, via an easy path, rejoin the departmental road leading to Autrans.
(8) Cross with great care and then head straight on along the Chemin de Rochefort, which links up with the Route de Villard-de-Lans.
(9) Turn right onto a path that runs alongside the road to a small supermarket.
(10) Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing, taking great care. Opposite, take the wide path that leads back to the tram line junction you passed on the way out.
(1) Turn left onto this track and retrace your steps to return to the Tourist Office car park (S/E).
