Park in the large car park at La Chenevarie, a hamlet in Lans-en-Vercors crossed by the Saint-Nizier road.
(S/E) From the car park, cross the main road and take the secondary road opposite. Quickly turn left onto a good path bordering two meadows. At a fork a few metres after entering the forest, leave the left-hand path, which leads to the Bois des Mures, and take the right-hand path, which climbs south-west up the wooded slope of Les Traverses.
(1) At a bend at an altitude of 1,250 metres, it is worth leaving the main path and taking a trail heading due south. This quickly joins a grassy ridge, which you simply follow upwards, offering a beautiful view of the Haut-Bruyant valley. It eventually levels out and rejoins the classic Traverses route.
(2) Then head towards the old barns of Les Jeux via a grassy path. This leads to another path coming from the hamlet of Le Furon. Climbing gently up the hillside through a few clearings, it reaches the Pas de la Tinette, a short passage carved into the rock.
(3) At the top, follow a path on the left for about ten metres. Then look carefully on the right, behind some rocky outcrops, for a shortcut. Heading east, it rejoins the previous path after a short passage over sharp limestone pavement. It quickly leads to the classic trail climbing up to Moucherotte (GR® 91).
(4) Opposite, a short path leads to a new stony track to take on the left. And, 100 metres further on, at a place called "Les Virets" (sign), take a new path towards the hamlet of Les Ramées.
(5) Soon, a new sign indicates to follow the direction of "Vertige des Cimes" on the right. On this path interspersed with sharp limestone pavement, the only precaution is to stay on the yellow/green markings in place. Then, at the bottom of a steep grassy track, simply climb up the edge of the cliff to reach the footbridge.
(6) To continue towards Grand Cheval to the south, look for the start of a path near the cliffs. As before, it is interspersed with sharp limestone pavement and eventually leads to the foot of a wide, steep ski slope. After climbing up it, take a grassy path on the left that quickly leads to a small pass.
Then climb a slight trail, which remains close to the cliff, to reach the cairn at the summit of Grand Cheval.
Return to the small pass, then take the grassy path and the steep ski slope again. This is followed by the wide Chemin des Virets, which leads back to the intersection near Chenevarie. Then descend as on the way up, via the Pas de la Tinette and Les Jeux.
(2) From this point, descend the classic Traverses path to return to La Chenevarie. (S/E)

, and there is a shorter route than this hike to get there. However, no one went to the Grand Cheval
We left early to avoid the heatwave, which was a good decision as there were few people, although we did come across some on the way down. We were able to do the round trip in the morning. We adapted the route a little at the beginning and end because we started directly from Lans-en-Vercors.
