Departure from the central square in Lans-en-Vercors.
(S/E) Go around the church on the right and turn right (east) onto Avenue Léopold Fabre (D106 towards Grenoble via Saint-Nizier). Continue to the hamlet of Les Jallieux.
(1) At the watering hole, marked with a sign saying "No swimming for animals", take a street on the right between the houses, following the sign for "Pic St-Michel", yellow-green markings, heading south. The street becomes a track and then a path. Go behind a ski lift arrival point and continue on flat ground until you reach the Grande Fontaine (spring) crossroads.
(2) Turn left (east side) onto an uphill track. Pass the lodge and continue along the track. 150 m after the lodge, at a junction on the way up, turn left towards "Pic St-Michel", following the yellow-green markings. Climb up the pretty Combe du Crêt and, at the top of the hill, join a track markedGR® yellow-red.
(3) Take this track to the right (south). 150 m further on, turn right onto an uphill track, which is not marked. After a left-hand bend, at the sign for plot no. 26, turn left onto a steep uphill path.
(4) Cut across a bend in the forest road and continue uphill. Climb up the ridge on poorly marked paths. Join the bend in the forest road.
(5) Take the path that climbs straight up the slope (south) in the middle of the bend and reach the summit of Croix des Suifs (1,477 m).
(6) Beautiful view on both sides. Continue south on the ridge. Further on, at the "Bois des Suifs" signpost, turn slightly left towards "la Sierre" and reach Collet du Furon: cross-country ski hut, marked "Domaine des Allières".
(7) Continue left towards "la Sierre". Cross the forest road and cut across flat ground to join the path that climbs to the right (east), straight up the slope, marked yellow-green.
(8) At the top of the hill, follow the yellow-green markings to the right (south). At the "Combe Oursière 1650" signpost, continue straight ahead towards "Pic Saint-Michel".
(9) When you reach the ridge, climb to the left towards "Pic Saint-Michel". There is a cross at the summit (1966 m).
Retrace your steps.
(9) Continue along the ridge downhill (south) towards "Col de l'Arc".
(10) Once at the pass (1,736 m), turn right downhill (west, then south) towards Font Froide. 300 m further on (elevation 1,675 m), continue downhill to the right (north-west). Further down on the right-hand side, a ruined hut can be used as shelter in case of rain.
(11) At the "Font Froide 1500" marker, turn right (north-west) onto the red and whiteGR® trail towards "La Salière".
(12) At the "la Salière 1440" marker, cross a meadow to the left (west). On the other side of the meadow, join a yellow-green signpost heading downhill (west). 500 m further on, at the "Font Froide" signpost, take an unmarked track on the right (north). Continue to the paragliding launch area.
(13) Continue. A little further on, follow "les Fayolles". Stay on the main path, which is mostly downhill, for about 750 m.
(14) At a cluster of trees on the left-hand side, go down a path on the left diagonally (north-west). Cut across a forest track and continue straight ahead.
(15) Shortly after a cow shelter, continue straight ahead downhill (north). After 200 metres, turn left downhill. Join a yellow-green marker.
(16) Follow it to the right. A little further on, the road becomes tarmac.
(17) In the hamlet of Le Peuil, turn right onto the Vieille Route. After 100 metres, at a cross, turn left onto the Route de Saint-Donat and continue to Lans-en-Vercors (S/E).
