The route starts from the village of Le Châtelard. You can park in the village or walk down from La Rosière via the hiking trails. Leave your car there (parking spaces along the road) and start the hike from the crossroads.
(S/E) Head south-east along the Route du Vaz and walk past the chalets. When you reach the old school, head towards Le Vaz. Stay on the road, which will become increasingly steep. Walk past a pond and continue straight on.
(1) Cross the bridge over the Torrent des Moulins. Continue uphill and you will soon reach the hamlet of Le Vaz.
(2) Once you reach the pond, take the path on your right towards La Roche and Bec Rouge. You will be following a forest track.
(3) Ignore the path branching off to the right and continue along the forest track.
(4) At this new junction, take the path on your left and climb through the forest towards La Roche.
(5) You arrive at the La Roche clearing. Follow the path past the back of the chalet; the climb through the forest becomes steep. Continue towards Bec Rouge.
(6) The edge of the forest is approaching. At the junction, take the path on the left and leave the forest. Continue your ascent to the next junction.
(7) At the signpost, head towards Bec Rouge. The path climbs to your right. Follow a few hairpin bends.
(8) Carry on straight ahead and enjoy the panoramic view over the valley. You’ll arrive near a rock (great view).
(9) Continue the climb towards the summit.
(10) Cross the alpine meadows and pass the various rocky outcrops that punctuate the final ascent. Follow the tracks to the summit to reach the Bec Rouge cross.
(11) Descend via the same route back to Le Châtelard (S/E).
