From the village of La Grave, go up the road to the pass, go through the tunnel and, at the exit, turn immediately right towards the hamlet of Le Chazelet. Pass the hamlet of Les Terrasses, then, heading towards Le Chazelet, pass the Sainte-Anne oratory and park on the left-hand side of the road facing the village.
(S/E) Drive up the road, pass the oratory and you will come to the first lane on the left.
(1) Take this lane, which climbs through the pastures and then runs alongside a forest to the north-north-west (or azimuth 328°).
The lane passes under the first chairlift before reaching the Plagnes chairlift, where it makes a hairpin bend. Continue along the lane for another 50 metres or so.
(2) Take the path on the left that winds its way up to the chairlift arrival point. Head towards the chairlift.
(3) Turn left and climb northeast or azimuth 47° on the ridge along the snowline. The path leads to a small plateau, known as the Côte Rouge. Descend to the saddle following the ridge, then climb the final switchbacks to reach the Signal de la Grave.
This wide summit can accommodate a group of hikers and offers an incomparable view of La Meije.
(4) The return journey follows the same route as the outward journey until you reach the car park (S/E).
