Start at Place du 14 Juillet in Wassy.
(S/E) Leave Place du 14 Juillet, cross the bridge over the Blaise and take the first street on the left, Rue du Champ d’Heu.
(1) Walk past a beautiful wash house and continue until you reach the last social housing block.
(2) Turn right round the side of this block, following a narrow path that leads to a metal footbridge crossing the old canal. When you reach the edge of a road, follow it to the left, then turn off onto the first road on the right towards “la Digue” (Lac des Leschères). Cross the car park, walk past the campsite and follow the path to its end.
(3) When the path curves sharply to the right (90°), turn left onto a small track that climbs towards the fields until it joins a farm track. Continue to the right along this track to the south-western end of the field, where you’ll reach a crossroads.
(4) Continue left along a farm track made of white limestone, initially climbing gently until you reach the edge of the woods, then descending towards the village of Montreuil-sur-Blaise. Halfway down the slope, you’ll pass a pretty statue of the Virgin Mary, near the water tower.
(5) At the entrance to the village, cross the D192 carefully and follow the cycle path to the right (an old railway line). Turn left at the first street and then immediately left towards the church. At the next junction, turn right towards the Place de la Mairie. After the town hall, look out for a sign inviting you to visit the wash house.
(6) Follow the sign to visit this beautiful wash house, then retrace your steps back to the junction. Turn right and, after 30 metres, turn right again onto a grassy path which joins the cycle path; follow this to the entrance to Brousseval.
(7) Turn right into Rue de la Gare and, immediately after the bridge over the Blaise, turn left into the car park. At the end of the car park, there is a path leading to the right bank of the river.
(8) Cross a small bridge over a stream that flows into the Blaise and, 200 metres further on, turn onto a path that climbs between the gardens and joins Rue Mauljeau (D2). Follow it to the left until you reach the first alleyway on the left, which descends between the houses.
(9) Follow this alleyway, then the path that runs below the houses, alongside the disused canal, to Rue Philippe Lebon, and turn right.
(10) Back on Rue Mauljean, cross it by first turning left then right and continue along Rue de la Perrière. At the end of the street, turn left and then left again into Rue des Martyrs de la Résistance. Turn left once more to rejoin Rue Mauljean.
(11) Follow it to the right for about 100 metres and, at the CIC bank, turn left into Rue du Général Leclerc and head for the car park at Place du 14 Juillet (S/E).
