The Yerre Valley

The Yerre river approaches, accompanied by scents and sounds that it seems to have carried from the depths of the forest, before flowing along the edge of the Perche region and joining the Loir river above Cloyes.

Yellow markings

(S/E) From the church, head towards Douy, cross the Yerre and, at the intersection, continue on this road, which then branches off to the left.

(1) Turn left into Ruelle des Quatre Vents. At the end, continue along a path that turns right, then left and joins a cross path.

(2) Turn left and join another path.

(3) At the crossroads, turn right, then left and immediately right after the fence. At the woods, take the path on the left that goes downhill, crosses the woods and leads to the Vivier farm before joining the D23.

(4) Turn right onto the departmental road and follow it carefully for about 2 km.

(5) At the corner of the open space with a small road running around it (car park), before the exit from the woods, turn left onto the path that runs along the edge of the woods. At the ford, turn right onto the path that goes uphill and joins a road.

(6) Turn left at the hairpin bend and continue to La Taile.

(7) Cross the Taille farm and continue along the path that leads to the D1261.

(8) Turn left and cross the bridge over the Yerre. Continue along this road, passing through Villebalay.

(9) Ignore a road that branches off to the right and continue to a house.

(10) At La Maisonnette, turn left onto the path at the edge of the woods.

(11) After about a kilometre, a hundred metres before the edge of the woods, turn right and head towards Clairbois, which you will pass through.

(12) Continue along the road, turning right, then left, and head towards Reculay.

(13) Turn right onto the D363.5, then left and continue along this small road to the edge of the woods and a fork.

(14) Turn left onto the D128.7, then in the left-hand bend, take the path opposite which leads into the Bois de Montigny.

(15) At the edge of the woods, turn left, leaving the Proutière farm on your right. The path on the plain then enters the woods. Continue along this path, which branches off to the left after 1 km, and join the D363.6.

(16) Cross the road, leaving the water tower on your right. Go down the path, which becomes quite steep as you approach the houses of Saint-Hilaire-sur-Yerre. Turn left onto the D23 and head towards the church (S/E).
