Description of the walk

To the north-east of Ceillac, take the small Cristillan road for 2.7 km to park near the hamlet of Rabinoux and its chapel, which can be seen high up on the left.

(S/E) Take the path to the east. After three hairpin bends, before the hut and the yellow marker, leave the path and turn right onto the trail. Head north and you will easily reach the hamlet of Rabinoux and its chapel.

(1) Return to theGR®58and turn right. At the next junctions, leave the Chalmettes, Touret and Cabane de Lacas trails on your right and continue left on theGR® (direction not indicated). Continue through the woods and then the mountain pasture before reaching the Carrefour Sous les Estronques (around 2519 m).

(2) Continue to the right (signposted) towards Col des Estronques and Saint-Véran. Reach Col des Estronques.

(3) From the pass, take the path up to the right to reach the summit of Tête de Jacquette, marked by a large cairn.

(4) Begin the return journey by following the same route in reverse to reach the car park (S/E).

Near the summit, you can see several cairns on the wide ridge: you can take a short detour to enjoy breathtaking views of the valleys and villages of Ceillac and Saint-Véran.

A beautiful hike offering superb views of the Ceillac and St Véran valleys.
While the climb up in the cool morning air was relatively solitary, the descent was much busier with hikers on the GR58 trail, trail runners training and paragliders returning to their launch sites.
Otherwise, a very good hike!
If the car parks are full, you can reach the junction 500 metres from the hamlet of Rabinoux via Les Chalmettes.

A beautiful hike on a very good path.
Quite crowded up to the Col des Estronques at this time of year, which is not surprising on the Tour du Queyras. Quieter at the summit. No view of Monte Viso today (due to fog) but beautiful view of the Queyras peaks.
The car park is located about 400 metres after the "Le Tioure" sign.

Magnificent viewpoint with a bonus view of Mount Viso if you climb to the top of Jacquette: a final 20-minute effort from the pass!
Thank you for this beautiful hike!

Very nice hike. We continued to the Jacquette summit following the path along the ridge. Beautiful view of the Viso, St Véronique and the peaks of Val d'Escrins, and as a bonus, we saw about ten chamois!

One of my most beautiful hikes in Ceillac. I did it as a circular hike, following the well-marked trail along the Jacquette ridge (magnificent views!) eastwards for 1.5 km. Then I descended through the mountain pastures at Draye de Chaleur to the Lacas hut, where I rejoined the hamlet trail that leads back to the starting point via Les Chalmettes.
The small car park below Rabinoux is located on a wide carriageway to the left of the road, just after the "Pont du Chemillard" sign at an altitude of 1,820 m (3 km from Ceillac). You can also start this hike from the hamlet of Les Chalmettes (car park below).
Thanks to Britanicus for his very informative video!

A very pleasant walk along a beautiful path. Superb scenery at the summit. Option to return via the Col Fromage pass for a change of route.

The snow forced us to leave Ceillac and put on our snowshoes. At 4 p.m., we turned back. We saw several chamois and really enjoyed the scenery.
