The ‘Rand’Eau’ hike organised by Brion School

(S) Start from Brion School.

From the sign on the school pillar, turn right (south-east) onto the road leading downhill (Rue du Vaunoyer) and then turn right onto Rue de la Fontaine (pedestrianised section) before the wash house and its fountain (1).

Carry on straight along Rue de la Fontaine until you reach house number 3, where you’ll find a water pump (2).

Turn left into Ruelle Saint-Phal. Walk uphill towards the church. On the way, you’ll cross a stream.

Walk along the left-hand side of the church until you reach the war memorial. From there, you’ll see the fire station.

Cross Rue Neuve and take Rue de la Forêt opposite. Opposite number 1, you’ll notice a dog-washing pump on the façade in the courtyard (3).

Carry on straight ahead, cross Rue Pierre Curie and walk past the cemetery. Then take the first path on the left. At the water tank, take the path on the right which runs alongside it and overlooks Route de la Fourchotte. At the junction of roads and paths a little further on, turn right. At the Fork in the road that follows (4), take the left-hand path, leaving the small pine copse on your right. From here, discover the story of the ‘Devil of La Fourchotte’.

Walk straight on, heading north-west. Pass under the high-voltage power line, then ignore a path branching off to the right. At the next junction, turn left to pass under the high-voltage power line a second time. Continue along this path (west-south-west) until you reach a hamlet. Next to the first house on the left, you’ll hear the sewage pump.

Walk up to the junction and, there, turn left. At the roundabout, beneath its shelter, stands the Fourchotte well (5).

Continue along Rue Abel Minard. On your left, you’ll approach the pond. Walk past the water tower. At the Fork in the road (6), take the left-hand path (Rue Bellevue).

Continuing in the same direction, head down the Chemin de l’Épaulée (with a magnificent view of the Auxerrois region ahead of you), ignoring the paths branching off to the left or right. You will then follow the sewage pipes.

At the end of the path, you’ll come out onto another path running roughly perpendicular to it; follow this to the left. The path turns into a road (rue du Vaunoyer), which takes you to the village and the school.

This path is marked with yellow markings. Moderator’s update dated 13/09/2018: ovil informs us in their review of this walk that
