The short circular loop of the Grandes Charmes

Park next to the war memorial opposite 14 Rue de Verdun.

(S/E) With your back to the church, take Rue de Verdun.

(1) At the first crossroads, take Rue de la Bouclière (no entry slightly to the right of Rue de Verdun). After 100 metres, take the first path up to the right (no vehicles). Continue straight on until you cross the road. Cross it and follow the path opposite (signposted Route des Grands Charmes, green and yellow markings).

Enjoy the panoramic view throughout the climb. Turn left onto the path when you see the Virgin Mary statue on the left (orientation table). Take the path protected by a chain that crosses the cemetery and enjoy the shade of the hundred-year-old lime trees.

Continue along the path, passing Aubigny church on your way towards the village. Descend into the village via Rue de l'Abbaye. At the three-way junction, continue right, still on Rue de l'Abbaye (green and yellow markings).

(2) At the junction with the D140, bear slightly right and leave the road immediately afterwards to descend to the left onto a small road (follow the green and yellow markings). Continue along the main path, which curves to the left before crossing the small bridge over the Badin. Continue to a junction with an apiary on the corner.

(3) Turn right (green and yellow markings, sign for Chatoillenot 2.5km).

(4) At the top of the small hill, take the first path on the left (leaving the white path and markings) between a field and a wooded area. Climb up to the edge of the woods. Enter the woods and take the path furthest to the left. Continue straight ahead on the same level. Cross a field on your left and climb straight up. This path leads to a larger path.

(5) Turn left, cross the junction and continue on this path which heads due east between the fields (do not take the path furthest to the left which runs alongside the forest), with a large hunting hut on your right. When the path joins another path - in a zigzag pattern - continue straight ahead, pass in front of hunting chair no. 13 and continue following the green and yellow markings.

(6) At chair no. 11, don't miss the small path slightly to the left (between two large stones). Continue to follow the markings, turn left onto the road. Enter the village and turn left onto Rue du Lavoir, just before the bridge over the Badin. Turn right onto Promenade des Mais, then take the footbridge back to the car park (S/E).
