The Laval farm

On 6 April 1944, the Maquis de la Ferme Laval was defeated after around twenty resistance fighters battled Nazi soldiers and militiamen for over six hours. This easy walk from Lambruisse takes you to the site of this tragedy.

Description of the walk

In Lambruisse, park in the Iscles neighbourhood, near the recycling bins.

(S/E) Take the small road heading north without crossing the bridge over the Encure. After a few hundred metres, it becomes a track. You will come to a three-way junction

(1) Follow the track on the left, pass a house and keep right at the fork about 150 m further on.

(2) Continue left at the crossroads and you will soon reach the Laval farm, a historic site of the Maquis that fell in April 1944.

(3) Take the same route back to return to the car park (S/E).

The hike starts in Archail, a small village 13 km from Digne-les-Bains, which can be reached by a road, already magnificent, that runs alongside the Bouinenc torrent.
