The summit of La Sapée

Park in the large car park near the Gîte d'étape des Robines.

(S/E) Return to the D19, leaving the lodge on your left, and follow this road to the right.

(1) Take the first road on the left and immediately ignore a turn-off on the left. At the intersection that appears shortly after, go straight ahead to the Notre-Dame d'Entraigues church.

(2) Pass the church and continue along a track. At a fork, turn right and cross a stream (which may be dry). Then follow the Torrent de la Salaou on your right.

(3) Turn right and wade across the stream: depending on the water level, you may need to take off your shoes. On the other side, head south-east up a track bordered by fields and pastures.

(4) At a fork, take a faint path that climbs up to the left (ignore the more obvious, flat path on the right). Follow a few steep switchbacks through the forest.

(5) At an intersection, go straight ahead (south-southwest) and continue climbing through the forest. Make several hairpin turns. Becareful when crossing a few scree slopes and a few exposed sections. Reach a ridge directly below the summit.

(6) Follow the ridge to the right and you will quickly reach the summit.

(7) Return via the same route in reverse until you reach the car park at the lodge (S/E).
