Park in Paroy in the car park behind the church. Route markers for the mountain bike can be seen from a distance.
(S/E) Head towards the forecourt of the 15th-century Saint-Étienne Church via the gravel path. Try your luck at visiting it (the door was closed when I passed by) and go down the stairs, then immediately turn left towards the car park and turn right into Rue des Marronniers. On the left is a beautiful old building with a gate and a slate roof. At the nearby fork, continue up the hill to the left, passing a beautiful manor house and an old drinking trough. Continue along Rue des Marronniers without being distracted by the paths to the right or left until you almost reach the end of the village.
(1) At the fork, turn left onto the small tarmac road towards By. When you reach the last house in the village, at the new fork, continue straight ahead on the same small tarmac road.
(2) At a farm shed on the left and a glass collection point, turn left onto a gravel path that will take you through sunny meadows for a good while.
(3) Shortly after another shed, the path crosses a tarmac road at a crossroads. Cross it and continue along the small path opposite, which climbs into the woods. There is a bench here for those who are already feeling a little tired, allowing them to rest before tackling the climb to the viewpoint.
(4) Almost at the viewpoint, look for the stone path on the left in a bend, which you will use later, and continue straight ahead.
(5) You will come to a crossroads marked by a signpost for "Grand Besançon". On the right, there is a picnic table and a viewpoint over the Loue valley and its villages. After a snack break, turn back and descend 300 m to the first hairpin bend you passed on the way up.
(4) Continue downhill to the right along the beautiful stone path. When you leave the woods, you will come to a small road, Chemin du Mont, which you follow downhill to the left until you reach Ronchaux (Chemin de la Cascade).
(6) Descend to the right towards the village centre until you reach the beautiful covered fountain and the old plough on display. Continue left for a round trip to the old farm and its pigsty with its remarkable slate roof.
(7) Continue a few more metres to the fountain and waterfalls of the leat de Caille stream. Turn back.
(6) Go down Rue de la Cascade to the waterfall. You can go down there via a path on the right. On the other side of the road is the old tuff quarry
(8) Leave the waterfall via the small tarmac road and continue straight ahead at the nearby crossroads. Shortly after a farm shed, at the fork, take the right-hand path, crossing a short wooded strip.
(9) After a pasture, before entering the woods again, there is a fork; take the left fork (leaving the mountain bike trail). You will soon arrive at the village, where you can follow the bell tower to reach the car park (S/E).
