Parking in Port-Lesney, just before the bridge. Yellow signposts. Hiking trail sign opposite the 'Bistrot de Port-Lesney'.
(S/E) Take Rue Edgar Faure towards Pagnoz-Fontaine, passing in front of the church. At the wash house, turn right into the street of the same name. At the stop sign and the next crossroads, turn left. Stop for a moment to admire the chimney plaque on the façade of No. 27 and, immediately after this house, climb up the gravel path on the right.
(1) At the bench, continue straight ahead along this beautiful path that climbs through the boxwood trees. You will enjoy a beautiful view of the village, topped by Mont Poupet. You will soon come to an old mossy stone wall and, at the fork, continue climbing through the woods on the right-hand path.
(2) At the top, you will arrive at the signpost for 'Carrefour du Buis'. Turn right towards the Edgar Faure viewpoint, in the direction of the VTT74 mountain bike trail. Be careful! At a new mountain bike signpost, the sign invites you to descend to the right along a path. At the bottom, ignore a path on your right and continue straight ahead to discover the view over the Loue valley.
(3) Leave the viewpoint and take the path in front of you when you turn your back to the valley. Continue straight ahead at the next intersection (Edgar Faure signpost) towards Cramans. You will arrive at the crossroads by the hunting lodge. Take the third path on the right (circuit VTT74), which passes in front of the cabin despite the yellow cross indicating that you should not go there.
(4) At the next fork, marked by the signpost 'les Carrières', turn right towards 'Vignes Conservatoires'. At the gravel road, turn left downhill until you reach the departmental road 48.
(5) Follow the departmental road downhill to the left until you leave the woods.
(6) Turn right into the vineyards along the beautiful gravel road. After the road turns sharply left, at the next fork (signpost for Vigne de Cramans), turn right towards Vignes Conservatoires. At the next fork, keep right, still following the VTT74 trail. Soon, on your left, you will see a distant view of the saltworks at Arc-et-Senans.
(7) At the new fork (signpost Sur les Fontaines), turn right towards Champagne-sur-Loue. Then turn right again (sign for Vigne Conservatoire), despite the yellow cross, and right again at the next fork, which is very close by.
(8) When you see the river and come to a crossroads, turn right, leaving the gravel road and soon entering the woods (circuit VTT74). Please note: shortly after an information panel about the dry forest you are crossing, at a mountain bike signpost and a small A7 forest sign, look for the sign indicating to turn left onto the smallest path. You will rejoin the departmental road, which you cross to arrive at the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette signpost.
(9) Climb up to the chapel via the stony path on the left. Go to the viewpoint over the valley, passing under the small gate on the right. Return to the signpost and this time take the path on the right. At the nearby crossroads, turn left. At the X-shaped crossroads, go down the hillside via the path on the left (towards the village).
(10) Halfway down the slope, at the fork, continue straight ahead. When you see the village, turn left onto the paved road, then right onto Rue du Ruisseau. Then turn left at the next intersection and finally right to find the Bistrot de Port-Lesney and the car park (S/E).
