The starting point is in a car park along the Furieuse river, on Chemin du Bariel, towards the village of Granges de Vaivre.
(S/E) Take Chemin du Bariel to the D467. Follow it to the right and cross at the pedestrian crossing at the junction with Route d'Ivrey.
(1) A little further on, turn right onto Chemin du Bélieu and continue towards the forest.
(2) At the corner of the pasture, turn right to follow it and enter the forest. Follow theGR®59- Échappée Jurassienne - marked in red and white until you reach the edge of the forest to get to the captured spring.
(3) Near the picnic table, be sure to take a look at the old spring catchment, now used as a drain for the upper building. Continue on your way towards the charming little village of Onay. Pass the fountain and turn left onto Rue des Vignettes.
(4) At the crossroads, turn left onto Chemin de Chamoz.
Follow thisGR® trail for several kilometres, ignoring any paths that cross it.
(5) Cross the Ruisseau de la Pissouse stream to soon emerge in the middle of the vineyards and enjoy a view of Mont Poupet, the forts of Salins and the surroundings of Marnoz. Join the Route de Saint-Thiébaud, which you will take to the right to reach the junction with the Voie Verte, a pedestrian and cycle path.
(6) Leave theGR®. Keep to the far right towards Marnoz. Go through the short tunnel, then cross the Furieuse river on the viaduct and you will reach the entrance to the village of Marnoz.
(7) Cross the D472 very carefully (there is no protected crossing!) and take the white path between two pastures. When you see the hunting lodge, where you can rest for a moment, take the path on the right. It is in poor condition and quickly climbs into the forest. After a flatter section, you will reach a junction with a larger track.
(8) Turn right towards Vaulgrenant and its ruined castle. Follow the meadows to reach the hamlet.
(9) Look for the small path on the right and follow the sign for Château. Climb up towards the ruins.
(10) Explore the site at your leisure, then return to the original path to descend to the village.
(9) Back among the houses, take a path downhill on your left and follow the red and white markings again. In the forest, stay on this path, which changes direction and is a little uneven (steep, descent between rocks).
You will then come to a white path that leads to a tarmac road.
(11) When you see Granges-de-Vaivre, take this road on the right. Walk carefully to reach the car park (S/E).
