Through the Kerfeunteun neighbourhoods north of Quimper

(S/E) Head west along the Penvillers Sports Complex and, just at the stadium entrance, look for a cement path on the left with a barrier and yellow markings. Follow this path downhill, which runs alongside and then crosses a stream and becomes a dirt track. Ignore two staircases on the right and you will come to a street. Leave the yellow markings, turn right into this street, go around two large buildings, then turn right again to come out in front of an imposing staircase.

(1) Climb this steep staircase of forty steps with a children's playground at the top on the right, turn left into a pedestrian crossing that leads to a street (view of Quimper) and follow this curved street. At the intersection of streets, turn left and you will come to Rue de Stang Vihan. Go down to the left for about ten metres, cross at the pedestrian crossing and continue straight ahead.

(2) Look for a staircase on the right between two buildings, climb it and, shortly afterwards, turn left into a street that ends in a small parking area. Cross a grassy verge and climb to the right, up a new street that ends in a small staircase. At the top, keep left to walk along the perimeter of the Groupe Scolaire Saint-Jean Baptiste school.

(3) Follow the fence around the playground, turn right, go through a small gate that is always open and go around a grass sports field. Ignore a pedestrian crossing on the right and arrive at a roundabout near a bus stop. Continue straight ahead and, at the crossroads, turn right into Allée de Meilh-Stang-Vihan. At the end, at the entrance to the Résidence le Clos de la Fontaine on your right, look for a discreet fountain on your left.
Turn left and walk up the pavement to the top of the street, then turn left into the street serving a group of buildings. Turn right into the pedestrian crossing between the buildings and, at the end, turn left towards the exit of the residential car park.

(4) Cross the street, take the path opposite (barrier marked "no parking") and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads. Turn right and follow a beautiful tree-lined avenue overlooking the Stang Vihan landscape cemetery.

(5) Opposite a staircase, go down a tarmac path on the left along the fence that borders the cemetery and, at the bottom opposite a footbridge, turn right to reach another footbridge. Cross it and follow the path that runs alongside a stream on your right. Go around the Chasseurs roundabout on the left and, after a bus shelter, enter Kervouyec Park on the left. Walk past the children's playground and then the city stadium, continue along the tree-lined promenade (information panels) and exit on the right at a street.

(6) Head slightly to the left to find the entrance to the UDAFF29 car park and walk along the right-hand side. Continue along the footpath towards the Ty Pont Kerroué roundabout.
Go around the roundabout on the left in two stages, using the pedestrian crossings (heavy traffic). Cut across the bottom of the Voie Romaine and continue along the Allée de Bécherel, a pedestrian and cycle path parallel to the Avenue de Bécharles. At the first roundabout near a transformer, turn left at a pedestrian crossing and, at the end, turn right to cross this residential area. In a bend, keep to the right (no. 35) and arrive near a street with shops. Turn right (children's playground on the left) then left towards a bus shelter.
Go around the Bécharles roundabout on the right in two stages, using the pedestrian crossings (heavy traffic), then go up the pavement on the right (Departmental Archives on your right). Walk past a series of shops and go around the car park of a large DIY store.

(7) Turn right, ignoring the access road to the DIY store, and keep left to follow a cul-de-sac serving two houses. Continue along the Traverse de Ty-Nay, a pedestrian and cycle path that runs alongside the Cité Administrative de Ty-Nay on your right. At the end, keep left towards the pedestrian crossing to cross Route de Ty-Nay (heavy traffic). Turn left (bus shelter), walk up the right-hand pavement and, at the top, turn right to walk alongside a large car park. Cross at the pedestrian crossing to return to the car park on the left (S/E).

This route includes a few staircases, including one with forty steps.

Alternative route (4 km): instead of going down to the left along the cemetery, you can go up a staircase, continue along the street opposite and, at the end, go up to the right along Allée de la Dairy Farm Neuve. At the top, take the lane on the left that runs alongside a car park to Route de Ty-Nay. Walk up this road on the pavement on the right and, at the top, turn right to walk alongside a large car park. Cross at the pedestrian crossing to return to the car park on the left (S/E).

After point (2), at the top of the stairs, there is a viewpoint over the town of Quimper.
After point (4), there is a viewpoint over the northern districts and the surrounding countryside.
