In Palau-de-Cerdagne, go to the Las Aspéras campsite. A small car park next to a playground will be your starting point.
Yellow markings throughout the hike
(S/E) Take the small bridge and walk past the campsite. Do not take the GR® Tour de Cerdagne trail on your right, but continue straight on towards Camps Del Ríu.
(1) Take the track on the left, then go straight on at the fork towards La Creuta for 200 m.
(2) Leave the track that branches off to the right and climb up the path opposite.
(3) At the sign for La Creuta, climb opposite towards Jaça de Palau. Leave the track on the right and left. Join a track and follow it for 100 m.
(4) Leave the track and turn left to go straight ahead. Pass a post without a sign.
(5) Cross the Rec del Prat at the Fontaine de la Misèria and continue to the jasse and the refuge. Unfortunately, the refuge has been looted. However, there is a table and cement benches outside.
(6) This is where you need to pay attention to spot the yellow markings. Cross the sheepfold, turning left from the arrival point. There are a few marked posts leading to the path that descends into the forest.
(7) Cross another track and continue straight ahead along the Ríu de Tartas.
(8) Do not turn towards Mas Tartas. Descend straight ahead, staying alongside the stream. The path veers slightly away from the stream before following another stream that leads back to Palau.
(9) Cross the small marked bridge, take the street on the left in front of the replica of the yellow train and head to the playground (S/E).
