Howden walks

This walk goes from the car park on Crowle Moor to the viewing tower in the middle of Thorne Moors from where you have a great view of the moors.

This is my favourite walk around Crowle & Thorne Moors. It takes you over the Bailey bridge and back over the new foot bridge.

Starting at the church in North Cave this walk takes in the pretty Drewton Estate, and then loops round using the High Hunsley Circuit to North Newbald. From there the walk makes it's way to the beautiful village of Hotham before returning to North Cave.

From Pontefract to Thorpe Audlin using mostly the Wakefield Way.

This walk includes all the typical features of the Yorkshire Wolds, an extensive limestone plateau interlaced with secluded, narrow, twisting dales. It starts by making use of three linking dales to come out onto the plateau where there are views from the scarp edge over the Vale of York and, as the plateau is crossed, views down into other dales and eventually across the Humber into Lincolnshire. The return makes use of another dale, a stretch of Roman road, and an old drove way.

This walk in the Yorkshire Wolds provides a mixture of walking through quiet secluded dales and across the wide open spaces of a limestone plateau with extensive views over the Vale of York. It starts and finishes in the village of Thixendale which has a pub and a small shop.

Easy walk from Henswmorth Bypass to Anglers Country Park using mostly Wakefield Way.

A short walk following the route of the disused Malton to Driffield railway, taking in the old station, sidings, chalk quarry and abandoned medieval village of Wharram Percy itself. The walk can be made a mile shorter by retracing your steps after looking at the medieval village and taking the shortcut back to the car park, along Centenary Way.

A walk with interesting history throughout, from a Church dating from 1100 to 1939 WW2 runways now abandoned. Also includes the Abandoned church at Cottam and the remains of a Medieval Village. There are a few optional versions of this walk, if you are familiar with OS map use there are many footpaths marked out to make this walk either longer or shorter. The route provided intends to give the walker the most interesting route of things to see!

This is a circular route taking in three villages and the route can be adjusted to have the start/finish at any one of them. The suggested route has a nice pub for a tasty half-way treat.
