Glentworth, Fillingham, Ingham loop.

(S/E) Leave the village, heading towards Kexby Road. Keep straight ahead. At the top of the rise, just after passing Glentworth Grange, you will note the bridleway to your left.

(1) Take the bridleway heading south. At the track junction head diagonally left where you will cross a small footbridge. Go through the gap in the hedge and follow the track around the field until you meet the tarmac road (Willingham Road). Turn left onto Fillingham Road and follow for about 500m, past Glebe Farm, until you reach a bridleway on your right.

(2) Head south along the bridleway and cross another small footbridge. Bear diagonally left after the footbridge, keeping the irrigation ditch to your left and follow until you reach the track crossroads. Go straight south across and follow the track to Ingham.
The old windmill will be clearly visible in front of you. Go past the small cottages and the park home and join the tarmac road (West End), turning left toward the village centre.

(3) As you approach the village green, bear left on Grange Lane toward the pub : The 'Inn on the Green'. Continue to the left of the pub up Grange Lane and take your third turning on the left - signposted as no through road. There is an elevated footpath running parallel with the road if you prefer.

As you leave the lane the footpath is signposted toward Fillingham (1 Mile) across the open field. Go straight across the next track junction and across the middle of the next field until you reach another footbridge. Continue north with the hedge to your left until you meet up with the Willingham Road once more. Then follow the High Street through the village and turn left just after Rectory Lane.

(4) Continue along the lane until you reach the bridge over the pond. Note that there is usually livestock, geese and swans in the field. Go through the gate on the bridge, up the short rise and through the second gate on the right.

Follow the path north past Manor Farm and the Christmas tree plantation until the path turns into a substantial track/road near the oil well. Continue until you reach Kexby Road / Hanover Hill road near your start point. (S/E)

(5) Cross Hanover Hill road and go down the hill on Church street and up the other side past the church. Follow the road round to your left past the old school house and toward Glentworth Hall where the road becomes a track once more.
After the Hall rejoin a road (Coachroad Hill) and continue straight on past the pig farm (Homeyard Farm). Follow Northlands road until you reach the oil well (nodding donkeys) and continue to your left until you arrive at a T junction.

Turn left here and retrace your steps back to your start point. (S/E)

You will note that there are several options on this route to shorten it if you wish; specifically at waypoint (2) (Fillingham Rd), the track junction before arriving in Ingham, and the final loop around Glentworth Village (Kexby Rd).

The terrain is a mix of (very quiet) tarmac roads and bridleways crossing arable farmland. It can get quite boggy in some places in winter/spring so good footwear is required and gaiters are recommended although not essential. With an overall height gain of approx 150m it is a relatively flat walk which should not be too taxing for most.

Park in any suitable location on Kexby Road. However, please do not park in any of the Passing Places.

The roads travelled are all very quiet, Kexby Road being the busiest, making this a dog-friendly route.

The 'Inn on the Green' is an excellent midpoint to stop for a drink and a bite to eat (their sausage rolls are possibly the best I've ever tasted) and the pub is dog-friendly too.
