Giggleswick walks

This short walk explores the limestone scenery to the east of Settle and includes the area in the vicinity of Attermire Scar.

A lovely walk with changing landscapes and panoramas. From the quiet and scenic Crummack Dale, via limestone escarpments and limestone pavement, you will join the three peaks path to the summit of Ingleborough where you will be rewarded with excellent views on a clear day. The return leg is via the pothole of Gaping Gill and the gorge at Trow Gill before crossing back into Crummack Dale.

A nice circular walk taking in Pen-y-Ghent and returning to Horton in Ribblesdale with regular views of the Settle to Carlisle Railway.

A circular route which can be done in either direction. As described it leaves Malham village on the good paths to the popular Janet's Foss waterfall, then it takes the quiet road past the entrance to Gordale and up the hill until a track leads to the summit of Weets Top. The gentle descent of Calton Moor provides a different landscape and views over to Rystone Fell and Cracoe Fell. More quiet roads allow you to take in the pretty villages of Calton and Airton before following the riverside path back to Malham passing, Hanlith Hall and Aire Head, which is the source of the river Aire.

As described it leaves Malham village on the good paths to the popular Janet's Foss waterfall, then it takes in the valley leading into Gordale Scar, returning to the road and up the hill until a track leads to the summit of Weets Top. The gentle descent of Halton Moor provides a different landscape and leads to Hanlith where you pick up the Pennine Way path back to Malham.

An interesting circular walk from the delightful village of Malham. Up through the pasture below Pikedaw Hill to the well mark footpaths that lead across to Langscar Gate and then Malham Tarn, which is a great place to pic-nic. The return leg is via the dry valley of Watlowes to Malham Cove with its spectacular limestone pavement. Descend via the well made steps and then the less trodden footpath to the East of the village.

A nice circular walk from Malham in a westerly direction towards Settle and then curving north past Attermire Scar with a detour to explore Victoria Cave. The loop returns towards Malham via Malham Cove. Interesting and varied scenery throughout the walk and mostly on well maintained paths or tracks.

A great circular walk from Malham village, taking in Janet's Cave / Foss, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn, the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove and the cove itself before finishing back at the car. Consistently interesting and varied scenery. ⚠️Please note that there is a scramble up steep water worn rock in Goredale between waypoints (2) and (3). Some people might find this challenging and please do not attend to do this part when it is raining or icy! However an alternative is possible.

This adventurous hike explores the foothills of Pendle, offering extensive views of the Ribble Valley, before diving into the wooded valleys beneath its flanks. It's the perfect route for a Sunday morning ramble or a summer evening amble.

This Lancashire walk starts from the pretty village of Downham and provides a relatively easy ascent of Pendle Hill. In good weather the views are extensive over the Ribble Valley to the Yorkshire Dales and the Southern Lake District, across Burnley to the Southern Pennines and across Clitheroe to the Trough of Bowland. The route is fairly easy to follow although do be careful during the descent as paths shown on maps are not very accurate.

The walk starts from Information Barn Downham and follows the anticlockwise circular route via Worsaw Hill, Worston and Little Mearley Hall.

Without the optional ascent of Totridge this is a fairly long but mostly undemanding walk, apart from a moderate climb to the shoulder of Mellor Knoll. The fellside climb to Totridge is steep and the trig point is on high peat moorland (avoid in poor visibility), but the reward for the effort on a clear day is an exceptional view that includes Pendle Hill and the tops of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The stepping stones may become impassable after heavy rain.

A somewhat wilder walk over Birkett Fell, rewarded with wide views over the Hodder valley and encounters with some intriguing limestone features. There are two moderate climbs; the moorland can be bleak in poor weather and paths may be indistinct and boggy in places.

A scenic walk along both sides of the Hodder valley; the river is crossed via two sets of stepping stones. Those at Stakes at the southern end are rather uneven and at the time of writing in 2015 one was dislodged, necessitating a nimble hop of about a yard; both sets may be impassable when the river is high (diversions are available). Field paths may be muddy.

The walk starts opposite Church of Saint Michael and All Angels and follows the anticlockwise circular route via Foulridge Reservoir, Noyna Hill and Leeds Liverpool canal.
