Horton in Ribblesdale walks

A classic route up and down one of the peaks that form part of the Three Peaks Challenge, from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, with good paths, majestic scenery and free-roaming sheep on the hillsides. The route starts and finishes at the railway station (regular trains from Leeds and Carlisle), but it also goes past the public car park. At 694m, Pen-y-ghent ('hill on the border') is the smallest of the three Yorkshire peaks, but its profile makes it stand out from the surrounding landscape. Great views from the top on a clear day. The route heads over Whitber Hill to pick up the Pennine Way to go back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

A nice circular walk taking in Pen-y-Ghent and returning to Horton in Ribblesdale with regular views of the Settle to Carlisle Railway.

A Yorkshire Dales route that includes a traverse of Blea Moor from Ribblehead. The return route follows a section of the Dales Way across Gayle Moor. The walk includes some unavoidable road walking.

A lovely walk with changing landscapes and panoramas. From the quiet and scenic Crummack Dale, via limestone escarpments and limestone pavement, you will join the three peaks path to the summit of Ingleborough where you will be rewarded with excellent views on a clear day. The return leg is via the pothole of Gaping Gill and the gorge at Trow Gill before crossing back into Crummack Dale.

This short walk explores the limestone scenery to the east of Settle and includes the area in the vicinity of Attermire Scar.

Pleasant walk from Hawes to Gayle bridge and back.

A circular route which can be done in either direction. As described it leaves Malham village on the good paths to the popular Janet's Foss waterfall, then it takes the quiet road past the entrance to Gordale and up the hill until a track leads to the summit of Weets Top. The gentle descent of Calton Moor provides a different landscape and views over to Rystone Fell and Cracoe Fell. More quiet roads allow you to take in the pretty villages of Calton and Airton before following the riverside path back to Malham passing, Hanlith Hall and Aire Head, which is the source of the river Aire.

As described it leaves Malham village on the good paths to the popular Janet's Foss waterfall, then it takes in the valley leading into Gordale Scar, returning to the road and up the hill until a track leads to the summit of Weets Top. The gentle descent of Halton Moor provides a different landscape and leads to Hanlith where you pick up the Pennine Way path back to Malham.

This is an easy circular walk from Malham, heading South to Kirkby Malham and then Airton. The walk up from Malham affords good views back to Malham Cove and the passes through varied farmland scenery. St Michael's Church at Kirkby Malham is worth a visit and the farm shop at Airton provides a good mid-walk stop for refreshments. The riverside path back provides further interest with views of Hanlith Hall, the old mill at Scalegill and Aire Head, which is the source of the River Aire.

This is a nice circular walk from Malham, which explores the popular viewpoints with the addition of some beautiful dales scenery to the East of the main valley. The ascent is not great and most of the walk is on good paths or tracks. On this walk you will visit: Malham Cove, Mastiles Roman Army Camp, The Bordley Farms and a beautiful dale, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss.

Lovely circular walk to discover Janet's Foss waterfall, Gordale Scar and waterfall and Malham Cove. Dog friendly. Can be very busy during summer months.

A great circular walk from Malham village, taking in Janet's Cave / Foss, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn, the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove and the cove itself before finishing back at the car. Consistently interesting and varied scenery. ⚠️Please note that there is a scramble up steep water worn rock in Goredale between waypoints (2) and (3). Some people might find this challenging and please do not attend to do this part when it is raining or icy! However an alternative is possible.

A nice circular walk from Malham in a westerly direction towards Settle and then curving north past Attermire Scar with a detour to explore Victoria Cave. The loop returns towards Malham via Malham Cove. Interesting and varied scenery throughout the walk and mostly on well maintained paths or tracks.

An interesting circular walk from the delightful village of Malham. Up through the pasture below Pikedaw Hill to the well mark footpaths that lead across to Langscar Gate and then Malham Tarn, which is a great place to pic-nic. The return leg is via the dry valley of Watlowes to Malham Cove with its spectacular limestone pavement. Descend via the well made steps and then the less trodden footpath to the East of the village.

Wensleydale in the Yorksire Dales National Park offers some wonderful walking. This route takes in a stretch of the River Ure, passes historic Nappa Hall before traversing the slopes below Ellerkin Scar. The walk then visits Whitfield Gill Force before returning to Askrigg.

Winder and Arant Haw are two hills included in this delightful walk from Sedbergh. The Howgill Fells are an integral part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park yet they display a unique character. The walking is good, the views superb and the paths quiet. Who could ask for more?

Cautley Spout, the Calf, Bram Rigg Top, Calders and Great Dummacks are all included in this walk in the Howgill Fells. Starting from Cross Keys, near Sedbergh, the route offers excellent walking within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and visits one of most dramatic locations in these hills.

A walk of two distinct halves. The first part of the walk ascends gently along the side of Gunnerside Gill, to take in the remains of the abandoned lead mines. It crosses the moor to Swinner Gill mine where a short detour takes in a waterfall and cave. The walk then curves around towards the village of Keld. The second part of the walk descends to the waterfalls and then through the gentle valley curving around into Swaledale where it passes through typical Yorkshire Dales farmland.
