Gibel walks

An easy walk suitable for children: educational farm, tool museum, observatories, numerous species of migratory and sedentary birds (storks, barnacle geese). The estate is located between Calmont and Mazères on the D35. You can park at the entrance to the estate or drive to the end of the driveway and park next to the museum. The section along the motorway is only useful for getting to the observatories, but you have to go that way.

A circular route starting from Calmont on the hillsides with a return along the banks of the Hers. On the ridge overlooking the Hers valley, and in good weather, there is a beautiful view of the Pyrenean foothills. During the hike, there is a beautiful view of the Calmont castle.

A lovely walk along the shores of Lake La Thésauque in Nailloux, which can be shortened by 4 km by cutting through the village of Montgeard.

A very pretty little circuit, without any difficulty, offering superb views of the Lac de la Ganguise, the hillsides and the Pyrenees. There is very little tarmac, with most of the route following wide, clean paths. The starting point offers a chance to discover the magnificent little castle of Belflou.

This beautiful route in the commune of Cintegabelle leads to the unique Tute de la Maine, the troglodyte dwelling of Germaine and her twelve children in the 19th century. It follows peaceful paths along the banks of the Grand Hers and through the forest, while others offer views of the Lauragais hills, the Ariège plain and the Pyrenees.

This hike offers beautiful views of the Pyrenees and Lauragais and allows you to enjoy the tranquillity of the canal while admiring its engineering structures, such as the small port of Gardouch, the Aqueduct des Voûtes which spans the River Hers, and the Renneville Lock.

A spectacular and iconic 48.2 km online route through the Lauragais region, the "Collines du Vent" (Windy Hills) connect Avignonet-Lauragais and Fanjeaux. Numerous windmills are dotted across these first hills of the Piège, taking advantage of the generous winds that blow alternately from the Mediterranean (the autan or marin) and the Atlantic (the cers). The view stretches far beyond the hills to the Pyrenees and the Montagne Noire. Eleven information panels provide details about the local heritage. A short tour around the village of Belpech, discovering its heritage with beautiful views.

This is a magnificent heritage walk between Haute Garonne and Aude around the Canal du Midi. Starting from Avignonet-Lauragais, you will reach the Canal du Midi via Montferrand.

A pleasant route between the river and hillsides in the commune of Cintegabelle. It allows you to enjoy the Ariège river, then offers magnificent views of the Lauragais crops, as well as the plain below and the Pyrenees in the distance.

This route around Cintegabelle combines the charm of the banks of the Ariège and Grand Hers rivers with the beauty of the panorama from the crests of the hills. The view of the Pyrenees gradually opens up as you walk, and the village emerges in the foreground.

A magnificent, very easy walk on the hillsides above Lac de la Ganguise with beautiful views of the lake and the Lauragais. In the distance, you can see the Montagne Noire and, on a clear day, the Pyrenees. The paths are wide and well maintained, either grassy or rocky. There are a few roads to cross, but no walking on them. If the lake level is low, it should be possible to take an alternative route along the shore.

In fine weather, the Gaudiès trail offers walkers views over considerable distances.

A short loop around Montgaillard-Lauragais, where the Lauragais region gives way to the Hers valley and the Canal du Midi. Beautiful views of the Pyrenees, if visibility is good, and a short section of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, coming from Arles (GR®® 653).

A lovely, easy walk through the beautiful woods above Bonnac. You can finish with a swim in the Ariège. The route is well maintained and clearly marked in yellow.

Through the typical Lauragais countryside, this route will take you to the village of Vallègue and its lake, allowing you to enjoy beautiful views, particularly of the Pyrenees, along the ridge paths.

Half of this walk follows its route along theGR® 653 trail, which runs alongside the Canal du Midi, offering shade and coolness.

This circular route takes you through the villages of Montmaur, Les Casses and Saint-Paulet, allowing you to discover the castles of Montmaur, Biès and Saint-Paulet, as well as the Cathar Memorial in Les Cassés.

A pleasant afternoon's walk in the hills.

This walk will take you past the stately castle of Issus, then up the hillsides where you can admire the Lauragais countryside with an exceptional view of the Pyrenees. The route ends with a leap into modernity with the satellite dishes of a Telecom station.
