Park in the village of Belflou, in the car park opposite the castle or further down, opposite the church.
(S/E) Turn your back to the castle and head towards the village exit on the main road. At the Y junction, take the road on the right. Immediately after, cross the D333 and continue opposite on the road that runs alongside the cemetery. Further on, leave the road and take the path on the left, arriving at another T-junction.
(1) Continue downhill on the right. The path leads to a place called Les Plagnous on the D33. Follow it to the left to reach a four-way intersection.
(2) Leave the D33 in the bend and take the small road on the left (Le Carla). Leave this road very quickly after crossing the Pradels stream and follow a path on the right.
Follow the stream and arrive at a crossroads.
(3) Turn right to reach the village of Saint-Michel-de-Lanès. Return to the D33, cross it and follow the street opposite, Rue de la Fontaine.
(4) At the end of this street, turn right onto Rue du Château d'Eau. This road climbs, crosses a path and continues straight ahead, running alongside the cemetery. The tarmac then gives way to a dirt track. Follow this track as it climbs gently, ignoring a path that branches off to the left. Join a larger track and continue straight ahead, climbing further.
Further on, leave the main track, which turns right, and follow the grassy path opposite. You will reach the ridge with a beautiful view of the Montagne Noire, the Lauragais and, with a bit of luck, the Pyrenees.
Begin the descent and join a small tarmac road. Follow it to the right, enjoying the first views of Lac de la Ganguise as you go. You will rejoin the D333.
(5) Cross it and take the road climbing up opposite, Route du Moulin. Stay on this road, keeping to the ridge. Shortly afterwards, ignore the path descending to the left towards Ganguise and continue straight ahead. Join the Belflou road (D33) again and follow it straight ahead until you reach a crossroads with a dirt track on the right.
(6) Take this dirt track and continue straight ahead. When you reach a farmhouse, cross the access road to the hamlet and follow the track opposite. It winds along the ridge, offering views of La Ganguise, then turns at a right angle and climbs up to the right.
(7) At the top, at the crossroads, turn right to return to Belflou. Enjoy more beautiful views. The road becomes a track, then a paved road and leads to the D333. Follow it straight ahead for 100m and, when it turns left, take the small road opposite.
Shortly afterwards, the road turns left. Leave it and take the grassy path that continues straight ahead. This descends gently to rejoin the starting route 500m further on, level with the lake.
(1) Turn right twice to reach the entrance to Belflou and the car park (S/E).
