Germaine (Marne) walks

A short walk to discover a beautiful wild pond nestled in the heart of the Montagne de Reims.

This is a hike for lovers of beautiful trees. From the Maison Forestière du Cadran to Pourcy, you can admire several remarkable trees, whose history is recounted on information panels. You can visit the Maison du Parc and return via a quiet road through the pretty village of Courtagnon.

Between Épernay and Reims, this is a ten-kilometre route accessible in all weathers. It can be done as a simple walk with children (possibly with an all-terrain pushchair) or as a brisk walk.

This lovely forest walk in Rilly-la-Montagne is ideal for families and nature lovers who want to stretch their legs on a simple and pleasant route. We did it with a baby in a baby carrier, so it was no problem (however, it is not suitable for pushchairs).

This is a short walk full of surprises: a pretty manor house in the woods, an ancient Roman road, and part of the Via Campaniensis, the Way of St James from Rocroi to Vézelay, where you often meet pilgrims.

This is a lovely 21 km hike through vineyards and forests. It follows theGR®141(the old Roman road Via Campaniensis) and theGR®14, which makes it relatively easy to follow. There is no return to the starting point. Leave your cars at Avenay-Val-d'Or station and return by TER train from Rilly-la-Montagne. Although you are following the Camino de Santiago, it is wonderfully peaceful. During the week, apart from one or two foresters, you will only encounter deer.

Everythird weekend in July, Les Secrets du Petit Bonhomme are given a new twist, allowing you to explore the village of Rilly-la-Montagne via the existingPR79 trail with a few variations. Interesting viewpoints, a link between the forest, the village and the vineyards, and features related to the village’s floral displays. Route available all year round, except in the forest during the hunting season.

This is a long hike through woods and vineyards, accessible by train from the TER stations in Rilly-la-Montagne or Germaine. It is 23 km long, but can be shortened to 18 km by taking the train from Rilly-la-Montagne to Germaine. Its main attractions are the route of remarkable trees and a beautiful view of Reims in good weather.

You will meet walkers from all over the world, especially Holland and Belgium. The outward or return journey is by TER train between Aÿ station and Rilly-la-Montagne station, where you can park for free. It is accessible from Paris either by TER via Epernay or by TGV via Reims.

This hike takes us through the vineyards to the picturesque village of Hautvillers, where many Champagne family homes can be found. The Abbey of Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers houses the tomb of the monk Dom Pérignon, who is credited with inventing the Champagne method of winemaking. The Pierre Cheval Park, nestled on the side of a hillside, offers a magnificent view of the village of Hautvillers.

This is a lovely day hike starting from Hautvillers. It takes you through vineyards and woods on both sides of the Marne Valley, with splendid views. It's a great opportunity to discover this beautiful vineyard and visit a few wine cellars.

Here is a short, picturesque route that winds through the vineyards and woods. It is recommended by "La Marne à pied". It will give you the chance to visit Hautvillers, its quiet little streets and its beautiful abbey.

This is a short hike through vineyards offering magnificent views of the Marne Valley. The return journey is along a pleasant path that runs alongside the river.

This short hike in the woods will be of interest to First World War enthusiasts as it passes by the memorial stone honouring the soldiers ofthe 35th Infantry Regiment who fell between 17 July and 3 August 1918 in the Bois de Courton. Please respect the area, as the woods are probably private property. Avoid during hunting season.

This short hike takes you to see the Neolithic polisher at Belval and the memorial to the soldiers of the 35th Infantry Regiment who fell between 17 July and 3 August 1918 in the Bois de Courton. It passes through many woods, vineyards and pastures. It has little elevation gain and presents no difficulties, except for muddy conditions in wet weather. You will find it very peaceful. Avoid on hunting days.

This hike begins in the Champagne hills and gradually descends into the heart of the Montagne de Reims forest via some very pleasant trails. The end of the route descends from the forest plateau to finish on the old CBR (Chemin de la Banlieue Rémoise) with a lovely view of the village of Verzenay and its hillsides.

This is a lovely 15 km walk through vineyards and fields, offering beautiful views of the vineyards. Pass by the Château de Saran and the pretty Jardin Humide de Chouilly. Return to Épernay via the famous Avenue de Champagne.

This is a lovely walk in a little-known area, the Ardre Valley. The walk takes you over hills and through valleys, across Champagne vineyards, fields and forests. It starts at the beautiful Saint-Lié Chapel in Ville-Dommange.
